The source guide covers model-year 2021–2024 Mercedes-Benz S-Class W223 vehicles and illustrates a replacement rotating-tweeter kit that connects to the vehicle's ambient lighting. Confirm the kit, door-module version and existing audio/lighting equipment before installation. The year range does not establish compatibility with every equipment combination.
Before starting: do not connect or disconnect plugs while the circuit is powered. Confirm the mating connectors and terminal arrangement for the actual kit. The source does not give a vehicle power-disconnection procedure, fastener tightening values or a complete terminal diagram; obtain the applicable service information before working on the vehicle.
The long images below contain missing or inaccurate English captions. Read the source-based text beside each figure before using the photographs; do not follow an unclear image caption as a wiring instruction.
1. Components
Figure 1's original numbered key is:
- 01: rotating tweeter units.
- 02: motor modules.
- 03: main power harnesses.
- 04: ambient-light control modules.
- 05: harnesses for the two light units.
The caption “rotating treble” means a rotating tweeter, not a sound-setting instruction. The photographs show the illustrated kit; check the supplied parts rather than treating the appended English-note numbers as component numbers.
Figure 1. Components. Use the 01–05 key above; the appended English notes do not reliably preserve the original labels.
2. Door-panel removal
Figure 2 contains eight source photographs, read from top to bottom:
- Release the trim cover with a plastic trim tool at the indicated position.
- Remove the trim fastening screw with a T20 driver. The English phrase “fixing wire” is incorrect here: the source refers to a screw.
- Slide the armrest trim horizontally in the indicated direction to disengage its retaining tabs.
- Remove the two T30 fastening screws shown beneath the trim. This instruction is missing from the English-note panel.
- Release the door-panel retaining clips with a plastic trim tool.
- Withdraw the illustrated door-panel locating clip horizontally.
- Disconnect the door-panel connectors from the existing door module.
- Disconnect the interior door-handle cable.
Figure 2. Door-panel removal. The photographs identify the illustrated parts; they do not specify screw torque or an alternative procedure for other door versions.
3. Tweeter replacement
The ten source photographs in Figure 3 show:
- Release the retaining clip for the door-frame trim containing the tweeter.
- Remove that trim assembly.
- Unplug the anti-theft indicator light.
- Release the tabs and remove the existing tweeter assembly.
- Unplug the existing tweeter speaker connector. The appended English note incorrectly says “Connect”; this photograph shows removal.
- Fit the replacement rotating tweeter.
- Secure its retaining tabs at the indicated positions.
- Install and secure the rotating tweeter's light unit.
- Refit the existing anti-theft indicator light and arrange its wiring.
- Press the door-frame trim back into place.
Figure 3. Tweeter replacement. The note about “high production” is a mistranslation of fitting and securing the light unit; it has no technical meaning.
4. Wiring and final check
Figure 4's six source photographs identify these connections for the illustrated kit:
- The rotating tweeter's two-wire speaker lead connects to the existing tweeter speaker connector.
- The harness's blue adapter connector connects at the existing door-module connection identified in the source as No. 12. This is a connection identifier, not an instruction to insert a wire into terminal 12. Confirm the matching module, socket and adapter before connecting; do not select a socket by color alone.
- The harness's black connector connects to the rotating-tweeter motor module.
- Its three-wire connector connects to the ambient-light control module.
- Secure the modules and arrange the wiring at the illustrated positions.
- Restore the door assembly and check the rotating tweeter's functions.
Figure 4. Wiring and final check. “Ammonia lamp,” “Spinning the old rules” and “lemon block” in the appended English notes are mistranslations and must not be used to identify a connection or component.
If the kit connectors or module labels differ from the photographs, stop and obtain the correct instructions for that version. Do not move terminals or improvise a connection from the diagram.
5. Troubleshooting
Disconnect circuit power before inspecting, removing or substituting connectors or components. Apply the verified vehicle procedure before restoring power for each check.
- Tweeter lighting is off: inspect the wiring and mating connectors for incorrect or damaged connections. The source suggests comparing the left and right tweeter units to help isolate the fault; verify that the units and connections are suitable for the comparison before substitution.
- Tweeter speaker produces no sound: inspect the speaker wiring and mating connectors. The source also suggests a left/right unit comparison. This is a diagnostic clue, not proof that the tweeter is defective.
- Existing door ambient lighting is off: check that all disturbed connectors are restored and that adapter terminals are undamaged. Temporarily restoring the original connection can help assess whether the adapter is involved. Consider whether connectors were disturbed while powered. The source suggests locking the vehicle and allowing it to sleep for 10 minutes, then adjusting the ambient-light function again.
For support, provide the vehicle year, audio/ambient-light equipment, kit-module labels and the figure or step that differs from your vehicle.
