The Chinese source identifies model-year 2020–2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE167 / GLS167 and describes a sunroof kit intended to work with the existing ambient lighting. It does not identify the vehicle options or kit version needed to confirm compatibility.
Before fitting the light guide or routing wiring: the source shows the gap beside the sunroof rail, the B-pillar/headliner exit and the front door-frame weatherstrip route. It does not specify mounting clearance, clearance from moving roof parts or restraint-system components, or a connector pinout. Have the correct kit and routing confirmed for the actual vehicle before carrying out these steps; wire colors visible in photographs do not establish electrical functions.
Installation sequence shown in the source
- Adhere the light guide with its silicone strip in the gap between the sunroof slide rail and the headliner.
- Fit the light unit to the light guide and tighten the screws to prevent it from coming loose.
- Conceal the ambient-light harness in the gap beneath the silicone strip.
- The secured installation is shown below.
- Route the ambient-light harness out through the gap between the B-pillar and the headliner.
- Conceal the ambient-light harness along the front door-frame weatherstrip.
- Remove the factory left front footwell light.
- Connect the ambient-light adapter to the left front footwell-light connector.
Troubleshooting
- The sunroof ambient lighting does not illuminate: the source calls for ambient-light addressing/learning, but supplies no tool, menu or procedure. Obtain the procedure for the actual vehicle and kit before attempting it. Check whether the left front footwell light displays ambient lighting. Check the adapter for abnormalities, the harness for short or open circuits, and whether the light unit has become detached.
