The updated source describes a 64-color ambient-lighting retrofit for 2020–2024 B-Class 247, GLA 247 and GLB 247, controlled through the factory screen. The illustrated parts list is labeled 2020–2022 GLB 247. Confirm the kit revision for your model and year before using that older GLB illustration as a parts checklist. B-Class and GLA installations omit the GLB's left dashboard molded light unit, according to the source.

The source calls this a molded replacement kit, but the illustrated procedure includes removing plastic welds and drilling the door storage bins. Confirm the specified drilling and refastening details before those operations. The source does not give hole dimensions or a complete refastening specification.

Code the vehicle with the ambient-light module disconnected. Connect the module last. The coding screenshots and switch tables below are tied to particular controller and head-unit versions; establish the matching vehicle, head unit and kit before applying them.

1. Parts and wiring layout

Figure 1: GLB parts illustration

Figure 1 reading guide: 01 right dashboard light strip; 02 left dashboard light strip (GLB); 03 front door trim light strips; 04 upper center-console light strips; 05 ambient-light module; 06 lower center-console light strips; 07 storage-bin lamps; 08 extension harnesses; 09 module power harness; 10 vehicle wiring harnesses; 11 footwell lamps. The illustration identifies a GLB kit for 2020–2022; the broader 2020–2024 scope comes from the updated source text.

Figure 2: Vehicle lighting and harness routes

Figure 2 reading guide: identify the left and right dashboard, center-console, door, footwell and B-pillar routes before disassembly. The layout also depicts illuminated vents. Those vent branches are shown in the linked video, but vents are not listed in Figure 1's basic-kit parts illustration. Check the actual kit inventory before treating every depicted branch as an included component.

Figure 3: A harness route and connector labels

Figure 3 reading guide: follow the black dashed routing lines and the printed A labels on the supplied harness. The blue route links A4 to A5/A6 and then A7 for the upper center-console lamps; A8 appears at both sides. The green route shows A8 to A9 and A10 to A11. Door branches are labeled A12/A13 at the front and A14 at the rear. The red highlighted route passes the module harness through the door connection. These A labels identify kit connectors; they do not specify vehicle terminal cavities.

Figure 4: C harness, footwell and module power routes

Figure 4 reading guide: the blue route connects C2 to C3 and C4 to C5 for the lower center-console lamps; C6 appears on both sides. The green route is for the front and rear footwell lamps: the rear footwell branch connects through the front footwell branch, with C6 to C7 as drawn. The green English caption inside this image incorrectly refers to front/rear door and lower-console connectors; use the footwell explanation here when reading it. The red route connects the module power adapter to the pictured factory door-module connector No. 3. It does not identify an individual terminal number.

2. Center-console removal

Figure 5: Center-console trim and fasteners

Read Figure 5 from top to bottom:

  1. Open the armrest compartment. Use a small flathead screwdriver to release the three illustrated clips.
  2. Locate the three clips on the latch trim. Use a plastic trim tool at the two sides of the latch cover to release it.
  3. Remove the two red-circled T20 center-console securing screws.
  4. Pry off the controller/palm-rest cover.
  5. Remove the T20 screws securing the controller bracket, then lift the controller/palm-rest bracket at the dashed outline.
  6. Hold both sides of the center-console panel and lift it as shown.

Figure 6: Console plugs and air-conditioning panel screws

Figure 6 continues the console work: disconnect the controller and key-antenna plugs underneath, then the USB/external-power plugs. Remove the armrest lamp. Remove the illustrated T20 air-conditioning control-panel screws. The display-removal sequence starts in Figure 7.

The source does not specify the vehicle power-isolation procedure or refitting torques for these components. Obtain those vehicle-specific instructions before disconnecting the plugs and refitting the fasteners.

3. Display and dashboard trim

Figure 7: Display, dashboard trim and center vents

Read Figure 7 from top to bottom:

  1. Remove the two red-circled T20 display screws. Hold the display and lift it upward to release its clips, then disconnect its harness.
  2. Release the illustrated left dashboard trim and passenger-side trim with a plastic trim tool. The left molded lighting component shown belongs to the GLB installation; B-Class and GLA omit that lighting component.
  3. Remove the illustrated T20 center-vent assembly screws.
  4. Release the hidden retaining clips at the two sides with a flathead screwdriver as shown, then use a plastic trim tool to remove the center assembly.
  5. Remove the illustrated T20 right dashboard-trim screws.

4. Door panels and front-door wiring

Figure 8: Front and rear door-panel wiring

Figure 8 reading guide: remove the two illustrated T30 screws from each front/rear door panel. In the front-door drawing, DL identifies the door-panel lamp, HL the handle lamp and BL the storage-bin lamp. The rear-door drawing identifies HL and BL. The adapter caption in the drawings refers to the front-footwell connection; do not substitute an assumed door power supply.

The remaining panels show removing and wrapping/securing the original handle lamp, followed by drilling the storage bin and fitting its lamp. The source does not fully document door-panel clip release, handle-cable disconnection, the drilling diameter/location dimensions, or the insulation and retention specification. Confirm those details for the actual kit before removing the panel or drilling.

Figure 9: Front-door pass-through and module power adapter

Figure 9 reading guide: follow the dashed pass-through route between the right front door and cabin. The module power adapter connects inline at the pictured white No. 3 connector on the right front door module. Route the extension to the right-side module as shown by the small harness label. Preserve the pictured connector ends and A12 kit label. No. 3 is the connector identification in this illustration; it is not permission to insert a terminal into cavity 3.

5. Rear-door pass-through wiring

Figure 10: B-pillar connector access and rear-door terminals

Read Figure 10 from top to bottom:

  1. Route the rear-door branch at the B-pillar.
  2. Release the illustrated locking clip and unplug the connector.
  3. Take out the B-pillar terminal connector. Release the four retaining tabs and push out the insert as shown.
  4. Release the corresponding side tab and slide out the insert.
  5. The source shows female terminals inserted into unused positions, matching the harness colors.
  6. Separate the upper B-pillar trim for access.
  7. Release the two illustrated tabs and remove the protective locking cover.
  8. The source shows male terminals inserted into unused positions corresponding to the female side.

The source does not provide a numbered cavity map, connector viewing orientation or terminal specification. Obtain the exact male/female cavity map for this kit and vehicle before inserting terminals. Matching colors alone does not establish the correct cavities. The original red/blue/green channel description in the troubleshooting section applies to the depicted harness; the yellow wire's function is not defined. The English image retains a small Chinese instruction at the lower terminal-insertion panel; the steps above provide its reading context without inventing a terminal assignment.

6. Replacement light guides and lamps

Figure 11: Console, dashboard and door light-guide preparation

Read Figure 11 from top to bottom:

  1. Remove the illustrated T20 cup-holder/touchpad-platform screws and separate the assembly.
  2. The red-marked cup-holder lamp connects to the upper center-console branch.
  3. The green-marked armrest-lamp caption calls its destination the “lower footwell light strip.” The overall wiring diagram describes a lower center-console branch. Confirm the actual harness label and supplier connection instruction before making that green-marked connection; the source wording does not resolve the distinction.
  4. Remove the factory plastic weld points in the console trim and replace the upper/lower light guides.
  5. Remove the illustrated weld points from the upper console trim and replace its light guide.
  6. Prepare and replace the left dashboard light guide for GLB, then the right dashboard light guide and the front-door trim light guide as illustrated.
  7. Press down at the indicated footwell-lamp release and replace the lamp.

The linked video shows adhesive being reapplied to console trim. Neither the still-image sequence nor that video specifies the adhesive, weld-removal settings or a complete fastening acceptance criterion. Confirm the required refastening method for the kit before dismantling those weld points.

7. Vehicle coding

Keep the ambient-light module disconnected during coding and connect it last. The source identifies incorrect coding or connecting the module before coding as possible causes of newly fitted CAN lighting remaining off, behaving abnormally or failing to respond.

For that particular fault scenario, its recovery sequence is: remove the module; code the ambient-light feature off; lock the vehicle and allow it to sleep for 10 minutes; code the feature on again; then connect a new module. Establish the fault and the correct coding selections with the kit supplier before replacing a module. The source does not provide a diagnostic test proving that every non-responsive module has failed.

Figure 12: Cheyisheng OBD coding example

Figure 12 reading guide: the pictured tool screens show Bluetooth connection, the feature-purchase page, ambient lighting enabled and lighting effects enabled. The brightness choice distinguishes the pictured Haoyangde/CKCP option 10 from the separately named Chezhi(lian) option 100. Confirm the actual controller brand/version and supported vehicle before choosing a value. The source does not identify a universally applicable tool release or VIN-specific recipe.

Figure 13: DTS HU6 coding screenshot

Figure 13 reading guide: this is a HU6_UDS_CAN_D example in the AmbientLightWrite area. Visible selections include AmbientLightScenario on, AmbientLightEffect on, AmbientLightColorProgram 10, HMIColorControl Variant8, AmbientLight on, Brightness 10 and ZoneControl on; Zones 1–4 are on and Zones 5–7 are off. These are the pictured selections, not a confirmed recipe for every vehicle. The screenshot also displays “Negative response received (0)” during a read operation; it is not evidence of successful coding. Obtain a successful read/write confirmation for the matching vehicle/head unit and controller.

8. Lighting functions

Figure 14: Lighting modes and vehicle responses

Figure 14 reading guide:

  • Single-color mode: front, console and rear lighting use the same color.
  • Multicolor mode: front/console lighting and rear lighting use different colors.
  • Multicolor with dynamic effects: front and rear alternate with a gradual breathing effect.
  • Welcome lighting: unlocking produces white light for 10 seconds, then returns to the previous state.
  • Climate response: raising the temperature produces red and lowering it produces blue; the lighting returns to its normal state after 5 seconds.

These are the source's function descriptions. The menu highlight visible in the upper photograph is not proof that its adjacent single-color description is the currently selected mode.

9. Troubleshooting

  1. All ambient lighting is off: the source calls for disconnecting/reconnecting the controller power plug, then locking the vehicle and allowing 10 minutes of sleep before observing. Establish the correct vehicle/kit disconnection procedure first; it is not specified in the source.
  2. One lamp is dim: inspect for a detached or incorrectly seated light source, or foreign material blocking it after securing.
  3. Rear-door colors differ in single-color mode: select red, blue and green separately and compare the rear doors with the rest of the vehicle. Check the mating B-pillar pass-through connections against the kit's numbered cavity map. For the depicted harness, the source names red wire/red channel, blue wire/blue channel and green wire/green channel. It gives no yellow-wire function or numbered pin assignment.
  4. One location differs in multicolor mode: switch to single-color red/blue/green and check for a missing channel. The source proposes comparing matching front/rear/left/right light sources by substitution. Use only confirmed compatible components and the specified disconnection procedure. If substitution resolves the fault, investigate that light source; otherwise inspect the affected connector for bent or abnormal terminals.
  5. The screen's ambient-light interface reverts unexpectedly: verify that the module switch selection matches the vehicle/head unit, then investigate coding selections and missing data response.

10. Main-module and door-module switches

Figure 15: Main-module HU6 switch example

Figure 15 reading guide: the source caption for the pictured HU6 A/B/GLB/GLA/CLA main module specifies switches 1, 2 and 3 OFF; switch 4 ON. The module's source label identifies a 2.4G main module V1.36, version 5.24.00420, dated 2024/07/26; some of that label is omitted by the English overlay. The low-resolution photograph is not a reliable independent setting check. Follow the matching module's numbered switch markings and printed ON direction. The broader model names in this example do not extend this tutorial's fitment.

Figure 16: Main-module vehicle table and two-switch door-module table

Figure 16 reading guide: the C_AMBL04 V1.0.0 table has separate head-unit rows. Its relevant HU6, after-2019 A/B/CLA/GLA/GLB 177/118/247 row reads OFF/OFF/OFF/ON with VID 20. The separate HU7_A177 row reads ON/OFF/OFF/ON with VID 53. Establish the actual head unit and module revision before choosing between rows. VID 20 is a table identifier, not the coding brightness value 10.

The two-switch door-module table is separate from that four-switch main-module table:

Door position Switch 1 Switch 2
Left front OFF ON
Left rear ON ON
Right front ON OFF
Right rear OFF OFF

Confirm the actual module type before applying either table. The source does not reconcile every later head-unit/module revision with the updated 2020–2024 vehicle scope.

English installation video

Watch or download the English video

The linked local video is the source-bound GLB installation demonstration (4 minutes 51.8 seconds), with English narration/subtitles and the original Chinese picture labels retained. It includes illuminated-vent work and describes a rear-door handle-lamp-only configuration, whereas the updated still-image guide also shows rear storage-bin lamps. At approximately 4:21–4:28 it describes removing handle-light pin 2; that older video's instruction does not establish a terminal assignment for every version covered by this guide. Confirm the kit revision before using those differences to supplement the current image sequence.
