Application and components
The source describes this 3D rotating-tweeter kit for 2016–2023 Mercedes-Benz E-Class 213 vehicles with factory ambient lighting. It describes the lighting as synchronizing with the factory ambient-light functions. Confirm the actual kit revision and the vehicle's ambient-light configuration before installation; the source does not document each year/configuration or a vehicle-specific coding procedure.
Image 1 shows the paired tweeter assemblies, control modules, adapter wiring and mounting pad. Use the components supplied for this E-Class 213 kit.
Retaining-clip check: The updated source text says that the rotating unit's retaining clips no longer need trimming. The final panel of Image 2 still instructs the installer to trim the inner triangular portion of an upper retaining clip. The source does not resolve whether these refer to different clips or kit revisions. Confirm the exact clip and the instruction for the supplied kit before cutting anything. Check that the factory door-frame trim clips have not come loose; a detached clip can interfere with rotation.
Removal
Read Image 2 from top to bottom:
- Use a T30 driver to remove the two door-panel screws at the circled positions beside the inner handle/armrest.
- Use a plastic trim tool at the inner edge of the door panel to release its clips, as shown.
- Pull the door panel horizontally outward to release the upper inner clips.
- Push the large outer door-panel clip horizontally out of its retaining position, as illustrated.
- Release the inner door-handle cable from its retaining stop.
- Unplug the midrange-speaker connector.
- Unplug the blue connectors identified in the source as No. 5 and No. 6 on the factory door module. These numbers identify module connections; they are not individual pin numbers.
- Remove the factory tweeter. The older caption then calls for trimming the inner triangular portion of an upper clip; apply the retaining-clip check above before doing any trimming.
The illustrated screw tool is T30. No T20 step is identified in this source.
Installation
Read Image 3 from top to bottom. Some captions in the existing English image are missing or mistranslated; use the following source-based descriptions alongside the numbered sequence:
- Fit the replacement rotating tweeter at the factory retaining-clip positions. This first installation caption is missing from the English image.
- After securing the rotating tweeter, connect its wiring plugs. The image's phrase “rotating high beam” refers here to the rotating tweeter, not a headlamp.
- Mate the two-wire plug with the vehicle's existing tweeter wiring, as shown. The source does not identify a polarity or individual pin assignment.
- Mate the three-wire white plug for the lighting branch. “Three-wire” describes the harness; this is not an instruction to connect a numbered module port or pin 3.
- Mate the black/white five-wire connector pair. The Chinese caption specifies five wires, rather than establishing a connector-cavity count.
- Use the blue adapter connection at No. 6 on the factory door module, as shown. The removal image also identifies No. 5, but this installation caption gives no separate reconnection instruction for No. 5. Obtain the kit-specific routing for that connection before completing the wiring; do not assume it is interchangeable with No. 6.
- Connect the large black plug to the control module. The photographed module label reads “C/E/GLC rotating-tweeter module”; that shared label does not establish fitment for another vehicle.
- Secure the control module at the circled position on the door, using the illustrated mounting arrangement.
- Switch the vehicle's ignition/key on and off to check the rotating-tweeter function, as illustrated. The source provides no timed motion specification.
- Refit the door panel and check operation again, including rotation and the lighting response described for this kit.
The photographs do not provide a connector pinout, electrical supply specification, door-panel screw torque or vehicle-specific power-isolation procedure. Use the confirmed instructions for the supplied harness and the vehicle service procedure when disconnecting, reconnecting or securing these components. The source's functional-check photographs are not a documented test of every 2016–2023 configuration.
Troubleshooting
Abnormal rotation
Check that the rotating-tweeter connectors are fully mated, that the contacts align correctly, and that the tweeter is seated at its intended mounting positions. Inspect the door-frame retaining clips for detachment or interference with the motor.
The source suggests checking whether the unit operates normally when removed from its mounting position. It also suggests comparing matching modules or adapter harnesses to see whether the fault follows a component. Confirm the appropriate connection/disconnection procedure and use matching kit components for that comparison; the source provides no separate electrical diagnostic pin map.
Abnormal lighting
Check the light-unit harness connections and contact mating. If one side lights normally, the source suggests comparing the matching light-unit harnesses and checking whether the symptom follows the harness. Use the correct matching branches; wire color alone does not identify a pin assignment.
The tweeter does not fit
Check the supplied product against the vehicle and confirm that assemblies from different kits have not been mixed.
Image 4 identifies the grille examples, from top to bottom, as GLC 253, C 205 and E 213. It is a comparison for distinguishing mixed or incorrect parts. For this guide, identify the E 213 assembly; the comparison does not establish that the three assemblies are interchangeable.
