Application and components

This guide describes replacement metal speaker covers for Mercedes-Benz S-Class 223. The source text gives a 2021–2024 model-year range, while the component image specifies 2021–2023 W223. Confirm the supplied cover set against the vehicle's door trim and audio configuration; 2024 coverage is not resolved by these illustrations.

Four metal speaker covers for S-Class W223

Image 1 identifies the set as 64-color metal midrange-speaker covers and shows four shaped covers. Match each cover to its intended front/rear and left/right door position before removing the factory fastening points. The subsequent images show distinct front and rear cover shapes and a separate rear tweeter. This guide does not describe replacing a woofer or upgrading the speaker system.

The source supplies no lighting harness diagram, controller connection, supply/pin assignment or coding procedure for the “64-color” description. Obtain the instructions for the actual illuminated kit before connecting any added lighting. The module connectors identified below are disconnected for door-panel removal; their numbers are not a lighting pinout.

Front door-panel removal

Front door-panel removal sequence

Read Image 2 from top to bottom:

  1. Release the small decorative cap at the circled end of the front-door armrest with the illustrated plastic trim tool.
  2. Use T20 to remove the armrest fixing screw hidden by that cap.
  3. Slide the armrest horizontally toward the front of the vehicle to release its retaining tabs, then lift it off. This caption is missing from the English image.
  4. Use T30 to remove the door-panel fixing screws at the two circled positions exposed underneath the armrest.
  5. Release the inner-edge door-panel clips with the illustrated trim tool.
  6. Release the upper door-panel retaining clips as shown.
  7. Push out and release the large clip on the outer side of the front door panel. The source says to push it out; the English caption's “lift out” wording should not replace the illustrated release direction.
  8. Release the inner door-handle cable from its retaining stop.
  9. Unplug the door-panel connections identified in the source as No. 12 and No. 13 on the factory door module. These are connector locations, not individual contact numbers.

Rear door-panel removal

Rear door-panel removal sequence

Read Image 3 from top to bottom:

  1. Release the small decorative cap at the circled end of the rear-door armrest.
  2. Use T20 to remove the armrest fixing screw hidden under the cap. The existing English image describes removing a decorative cover here; the Chinese caption identifies removal of the screw.
  3. Slide the armrest horizontally toward the front of the vehicle to release its tabs, then lift it off. This caption is missing from the English image.
  4. Use T30 to remove the rear door-panel fixing screws at the two circled positions. This caption is also missing from the English image.
  5. Release the inner-edge rear door-panel clips with the illustrated trim tool.
  6. Release the upper door-panel retaining clips as shown.
  7. Lift the rear door-panel sunshade trim and release its two retaining clips horizontally, as illustrated. This step is specific to the pictured rear-door trim arrangement.
  8. Release the inner door-handle cable from its retaining stop.
  9. Unplug the connections identified as No. 12 and No. 13 on the factory rear-door module.
  10. Unplug the rear tweeter connector at the circled position. This is the small separate high-frequency speaker shown beside the larger cover area.

Use the vehicle service procedure for electrical isolation and connector release. The source does not provide that procedure or fastener torque values.

Front and rear cover replacement

Front and rear cover fastening and replacement

Fastening method to confirm first: Image 4 calls for removing the factory attachment weld points and then securing the replacement cover posts by welding or adhesive. It does not specify the removal tool, allowable heat, welding process, adhesive, surface preparation or curing time. Obtain the method approved for the supplied cover and door-panel material before removing these attachment points or permanently fixing the new covers.

Read the front-cover sequence first:

  1. Lift the foam on the back of the front door panel to expose the circled cover attachment points. The source then instructs removal of those weld points, subject to the fastening-method confirmation above.
  2. Remove the factory front-door cover.
  3. Position the correct replacement front-door cover in its matching opening.
  4. Press the replacement cover fully into position and lock its locating/retaining posts. The source calls for welding or adhesive to secure it afterward; this entire fixing caption is missing from the English image.

Continue with the rear-cover sequence:

  1. Lift the foam on the back of the rear door panel, expose the circled cover attachment weld points, and follow the confirmed removal method. The same source caption also calls for removing the rear tweeter. This caption is missing from the English image.
  2. Remove the factory rear-door cover.
  3. Position the correct replacement rear-door cover in its matching opening.
  4. Press the replacement cover fully into position and lock its posts, then secure them using the confirmed welding or adhesive method described for this kit.
  5. Reassemble the factory doors and check their functions, as instructed in the final source panel.

The illustration does not show a separate rear-tweeter refitting step, a new lighting connection or detailed reconnection/clip/torque instructions. Confirm how the removed tweeter is retained and reconnected before closing the rear panel, and complete door reassembly using the matching vehicle procedure. Verify cover retention and clearance, door-handle and trim operation, and any lighting fitted under the kit's confirmed instructions.
