This guide describes replacement light-guide carriers for the four door armrests. The source article lists 2022–2024 C-Class 206 and GLC 254. The photographed parts sheet identifies a 2023–2024 GLC 254 short-wheelbase version. Confirm the supplied kit's model, year, wheelbase and door-trim version before dismantling; that parts sheet alone does not establish compatibility with every vehicle listed in the article.

1. Identify the parts

CK Installation Guide: Four-Door Armrest Lights for Mercedes-Benz C-Class 206 / GLC 254 — image 1

The source parts sheet identifies front armrest replacement carriers, rear armrest replacement carriers, ambient-light LED heads and adapter wiring. Match the front and rear parts to their corresponding armrests before starting. “Short-wheelbase version” refers to the vehicle variant. The LED heads are light sources, rather than connector sockets.

2. Understand the wiring arrangement

CK Installation Guide: Four-Door Armrest Lights for Mercedes-Benz C-Class 206 / GLC 254 — image 2

The diagram shows the factory right-front footwell lamp connection feeding the kit's ambient-light module, with wiring branches to the four doors and the armrest LED heads. The door routes use paired kit contacts in the body-to-door connectors. The diagram does not provide a verified cavity-by-cavity pin assignment.

Where compatible illuminated midrange-speaker covers and their door modules are already installed, the source describes powering the armrest lights from those existing modules, avoiding another set of wires through all four door connectors. It also describes sharing an existing compatible aftermarket ambient-light module. Confirm the module and its available connections match this kit before using either arrangement.

3. Remove the front door panels

CK Installation Guide: Four-Door Armrest Lights for Mercedes-Benz C-Class 206 / GLC 254 — image 3

Read the panels in sequence:

  1. Remove the two T30 fasteners below the armrest shown in the photos.
  2. Release the lower door-panel clips with a trim tool while supporting the panel.
  3. Release the upper outer locating clip by moving it horizontally in the arrow's direction. Check the illustrated locating-clip pocket; do not pull that clip straight upward.
  4. Release the inner door-handle cable retaining point and separate the cable as shown.
  5. Unplug the factory door-module connections identified in this example as No. 12 and No. 13, shown with blue and white connector housings respectively.

The labels 12 and 13 identify the illustrated module connections; they do not specify individual lighting terminals or cavity assignments.

4. Remove the rear door panels

CK Installation Guide: Four-Door Armrest Lights for Mercedes-Benz C-Class 206 / GLC 254 — image 4

Remove the two illustrated T30 fasteners, release the lower clips, and release the upper locating clip horizontally in the direction shown. Support the panel while disconnecting the inner handle cable and the illustrated No. 12 / No. 13 module connections. The source does not establish one universal forward or rearward release direction for every door; use the actual locating-clip orientation in the photographs.

5. Replace the front armrest light-guide carriers

CK Installation Guide: Four-Door Armrest Lights for Mercedes-Benz C-Class 206 / GLC 254 — image 5

  1. Identify the kit's male-contact door harness and its paired white connectors. The separately marked white branch is reserved; the illustrated procedure does not use it.
  2. Route the harness for the two LED heads through the door along the illustrated factory-wiring route.
  3. From the rear of the door panel, remove the four T20 armrest fasteners.
  4. Support the armrest, push the illustrated retaining clip with a tool, and pull the armrest outward after releasing the clip.
  5. Remove the two T20 fasteners holding the armrest assembly together.
  6. Release the illustrated clips and separate the original decorative trim / light-guide carrier.
  7. Clip the kit's replacement light-guide carrier into position. Reassemble the outer shell and refit the armrest.

Keep the LED heads and their leads in their intended recesses. The source procedure uses screws and clips; it does not specify drilling, welding or adhesive for this replacement.

6. Replace the rear armrest light-guide carriers

CK Installation Guide: Four-Door Armrest Lights for Mercedes-Benz C-Class 206 / GLC 254 — image 6

The photographs use the right rear door as the example:

  1. Route the two-LED-head harness and its white connection along the shown door-wiring route. Leave the separately identified reserved white branch unused.
  2. Remove the four T20 fasteners from the rear of the door panel.
  3. Push the retaining tab while pulling the armrest outward. Release the next illustrated clip upward, then move the armrest outward as shown.
  4. Remove the two T20 fasteners that divide the armrest assembly.
  5. Push the illustrated tab with a tool and slide the armrest switch assembly forward as shown.
  6. Release the five marked retaining clips and remove the original decorative trim / light-guide carrier.
  7. Fit the kit light-guide carrier, restore the clips and switch assembly, and refit the armrest.

Check the LED-head position and route the lead through the intended central recess. No armrest part, fixing point or harness should squeeze the lamp lead during refitting. Align the lower retaining clip before pressing the assembly into place.

7. Connect the module at the right-front footwell lamp

CK Installation Guide: Four-Door Armrest Lights for Mercedes-Benz C-Class 206 / GLC 254 — image 7

The illustrated W206 module connects to the factory ambient footwell lamp. The source module label says to turn the footwell lamp off before connecting the adapter. The module has the illustrated 5-position input connection and 4-position output connection; this connector description is not a pinout.

The short three-way lead connects at the module output. Its S2 branch connects to the interior distribution harness, and S3 is a reserved adapter branch. The longer distribution lead branches to the left and right doors and connects back to the short lead's S2 branch. The power adapter's two black connectors reconnect the factory footwell plug and lamp inline; its white connector connects to the module input.

The source locates the module below the front passenger dashboard / footwell trim. Release the illustrated lower-panel clips, remove that panel and the front sill trim, then access the factory footwell lamp connector. This location is not beneath the passenger seat.

The photographs also show trimming corners of the blue factory footwell connector and the kit's black adapter connector. They do not specify the cut boundaries or permitted depth. Obtain the matching connector-specific trimming detail before performing that modification; do not trim a terminal, sealing surface or latch by inference from these overview photographs. Once the matching adapter connection is established, restore the factory footwell lamp circuit through the inline adapter.

8. Front-door female-contact connections

CK Installation Guide: Four-Door Armrest Lights for Mercedes-Benz C-Class 206 / GLC 254 — image 8

This sequence shows the body-side route from the interior module harness through the front-door connector. Identify the kit female-contact harness for the two front doors and its white branch connections.

  1. Release the large body-to-door connector lock and separate the connector.
  2. Move the protective boot back, release the illustrated cable tie, and release the body-side waterproof boot.
  3. Slide the female-contact carrier out of its housing and route the kit lead beside the factory harness toward the ambient-light module output.
  4. Release the carrier's retaining clips / secondary lock and remove the inner contact insert. This step removes the contact carrier; it does not instruct removal of existing factory terminals.
  5. Insert the kit female contacts only into the kit's confirmed unused cavities, then restore the carrier lock, housing and protective boot.

The source requires matching the kit lead colors to the paired male contacts on the other half of the connection. Wire color is a pairing aid within this supplied harness, not proof of power, ground or a numbered vehicle pin. Obtain the exact connector orientation and cavity assignment for this kit before inserting contacts.

9. Front-door male-contact connections

CK Installation Guide: Four-Door Armrest Lights for Mercedes-Benz C-Class 206 / GLC 254 — image 9

  1. Identify the kit's male-contact door harness and paired white connector.
  2. Release the front door-side connector's mounting lock, push the connector into the door, and bring it out along the factory boot / harness route shown.
  3. Release the housing clips using the two small flat-blade screwdrivers illustrated in the source. Route the kit lead beside the factory wiring.
  4. Release the purple secondary contact lock.
  5. Insert the kit male contacts into their confirmed unused cavities, matching the paired kit female-lead colors. Restore the lock and housing once the contacts are correctly seated.

The printed cavity numbers visible in the photograph do not establish which kit wire belongs in each cavity. Use the confirmed assignment for the actual connector and kit.

10. Rear-door female-contact connections

CK Installation Guide: Four-Door Armrest Lights for Mercedes-Benz C-Class 206 / GLC 254 — image 10

The source shows access through the B-pillar trim area and the rear body-to-door connector. It does not supply the vehicle-specific upper B-pillar trim removal procedure or associated restraint-component clearances; obtain that procedure for the actual vehicle before opening this area.

  1. Identify the rear-door female-contact harness and its white connector.
  2. Release the illustrated rear body-to-door connection and the B-pillar-side boot.
  3. Slide the inner female-contact insert out and route the kit lead beside the factory harness.
  4. Release the female-contact carrier lock.
  5. Insert the kit female contacts into confirmed unused cavities, matching their paired kit male-lead colors, then restore the lock, insert, connector housing and boot.

This is a door pass-through connection. It is not a firewall connection, and the last source step inserts contacts rather than removing them. A connector identity, view orientation and exact cavity assignment are still required before contact insertion.

11. Rear-door male-contact connections

CK Installation Guide: Four-Door Armrest Lights for Mercedes-Benz C-Class 206 / GLC 254 — image 11

  1. Identify the male-contact harness supplied for the doors.
  2. Release the rear door-side connector's mounting lock and move it inside the door. Pull out the boot and connector through the illustrated access route.
  3. Open the housing at the eight marked clips using the two small flat-blade screwdrivers shown.
  4. Route the kit lead beside the factory harness and release the gray secondary contact lock.
  5. Insert the kit male contacts into the confirmed unused cavities. Match the colors of the paired kit female leads, check seating, and restore the secondary lock, housing and boot.

Retain existing factory contacts. Confirm the kit's male/female cavity pairing before closing the door connection; the photographs do not supply an electrical pin map.

12. Check the lighting controls

CK Installation Guide: Four-Door Armrest Lights for Mercedes-Benz C-Class 206 / GLC 254 — image 12

The source describes 64 single-color choices, ten multicolor themes, and dynamic multicolor operation that alternates colors between lighting zones. The screenshots illustrate single-color / multicolor selection, brightness and effect controls. Their exact vehicle and software version are not identified; confirm the corresponding menu on the actual vehicle rather than treating this screen layout as universal for C-Class 206 and GLC 254.

13. Inspect the installed effect

CK Installation Guide: Four-Door Armrest Lights for Mercedes-Benz C-Class 206 / GLC 254 — image 13

The photographs show illuminated front and rear armrests alongside illuminated speaker covers. Check that the carriers and panels fit correctly, the leads remain clear of clips and fasteners, the door functions operate normally, and the armrest colors follow the intended lighting setting. These effect photographs do not establish compatibility or an electrical test result for every vehicle variant.

Troubleshooting

  • Factory footwell lamp does not illuminate: remove the adapter and restore the original factory connection. The source then calls for locking the vehicle and allowing ten minutes of sleep. If the factory lamp works after restoration, check the kit adapter, module and harness. If it still fails, inspect the factory wiring for pinching or a short circuit. The source also mentions ambient-light addressing but gives no diagnostic tool or procedure; obtain the exact vehicle-specific procedure before attempting it.
  • Factory door functions behave abnormally: check that each factory connector is correctly remated. Inspect for bent contacts or contacts pushed back out of the housing.
  • Armrest lights do not illuminate: check whether the right-front footwell lamp displays the ambient color, whether the module and inline adapter operate, and whether the door pass-through contact pairs are correct. Inspect concealed wiring for pinching, short circuits or open circuits.
  • Armrest colors differ: select a single color and compare the lamps. The source's example uses blue 1 or 64, green 44 and red 17; verify the actual vehicle's color menu before relying on these numbers. Check the LED heads, paired door contacts and concealed wiring if the armrests do not follow the intended color.

Armrest replacement video

The linked video demonstrates armrest removal, replacement-carrier assembly and refitting. Use the written door/module/connector sections above for the steps outside that demonstration. Video correction at 2:46–2:54: keep the armrest parts clear of the lamp lead. The assembly must not trap or press the lead; the English subtitle at that point reverses this instruction.
