Internal review draft — HOLD. The written source describes the 2013–2019 GLA156; confirm the exact vehicle, factory head unit, lighting configuration and supplied kit before installation. This navigation guide records the source demonstration and is not technical approval of the wiring or programming.
Vehicle and control options
The source describes upgrading vehicles with no factory ambient lighting, single-color lighting or three-color lighting to a 12-color system, with zoned multicolor effects. It claims control through a smartphone app or mini-program and the factory vehicle interface. The exact app, pairing procedure and compatible kit revision still require confirmation.
Factory-interface control requires programming/flashing according to the source. It describes these two cases:
- Before model year 2015: NTG4.5, with a three-color instrument-cluster interface controlling the 12-color lamps after programming.
- After model year 2015: NTG5.0, with a 12-color center-display interface controlling the 12-color lamps after programming.
The source does not assign model year 2015 to either case. Confirm the actual head unit rather than selecting a harness or programming method from the year alone. No programming procedure or approved DIP-switch settings are supplied in the written source.
Kit shown in the product image
The product photograph identifies nine groups:
- Front-door light strips.
- Rear-door light strips.
- Dashboard light strip.
- Front-footwell lights.
- Rear-footwell lights.
- Extension/adapter cable.
- Extension harnesses between the four doors and the module.
- Door-control power-adapter harnesses.
- Ambient-lighting control module.
The photographed module is marked W117/156/176, 2.4G and 5.0, with A/B/C connection labels. These are photographed identifiers, not confirmation of fitment for every chassis or head unit. The video title card shows an earlier eight-group kit, while the product photograph has nine groups; confirm which revision is supplied.
Wiring overview
This older A/B/CLA/GLA diagram shows module connections to five vent lights, four door-panel lights, the center light and left/right footwell lights, with male/female rear-door terminals. It is an overview, not an electrical pinout. Vent-light hardware is not separately listed in the nine-group product photograph. The film ends with illuminated turbine-style vents; confirm whether that optional vent package is part of the supplied kit.
Installation video and step navigation
The following timestamps locate the original demonstration. English captions and narration require further correction, particularly the repeated clip wording around 04:00–06:24. Use these source-grounded descriptions to identify the segment; they do not replace the missing approved wiring map, power-isolation procedure or programming instructions.
- 00:40 — Front-door trim and screws. The demonstration removes the silver trim to expose two screws and uses a T30 driver. Verify the actual trim and screw locations on the vehicle.
- 01:55 — Door-panel connectors. The installer releases the connector latch before withdrawing the plug. The demonstration does not establish a universal pinout or power-disconnection sequence.
- 03:38–04:42 — Handle trim and clips. The source shows a T20 screw behind the handle, two unplugged connectors and the handle lamp. Its captions explicitly describe pressing the retaining tabs downward with a tool before removing the trim; this detail is missing from the repetitive English translation.
- 04:49–06:36 — Front-door light strip and refitting. The source releases the four upper clips, aligns the supplied strip with the original positions, seats the clips individually and checks the gap/flush fit. It then restores the screw, connectors and handle lamp and routes the lead along the clips.
- 07:50 — Rear-door trim. The source shows refitting and pressing the trim into place. Verify all retaining tabs and alignment before closing the panel; acceptable force and replacement-clip requirements are not specified.
- 09:40 — Vent removal. A hook engages the vent's support structure in the source demonstration. The hook position and release force need verification for the actual vent version.
- 11:20 — Display and dashboard access. The source shows display removal during the T20 screw stage. Protect the display connectors and confirm all fasteners before lifting the assembly.
- 12:40 — Dashboard light strip. The installer peels the adhesive backing and places the light guide along the demonstrated trim route. No adhesive specification or clearance limit is supplied.
- 16:20 — Harness labels and routing. The demonstration identifies the right-side module lead, the center light-strip lead and the left-side routing. Use the labels on the exact supplied harness; left/right routing labels do not specify power, ground or CAN functions.
- 18:35 — Front-door harness passage. The source shows routing through the door/body passage. The complete sealing, strain-relief and moving-door clearance procedure remains to be verified.
- 20:52–21:01 — Rear-door mating connections. Four empty positions are counted in the demonstrated body-side connector. The source stresses that the corresponding wire colors must match across both mating connectors. Counting four positions is not a universal instruction to use pins 1–4 or any empty cavity.
- 24:08–25:35 — Demonstrated rear connector positions. The source first gives color-matching examples, then shows molded positions 11–14; the demonstration identifies green at 11 and yellow at 14. Do not apply these observations to another connector revision without its approved cavity map and orientation.
- 26:15 — B-pillar trim. The source shows alignment around the seat-belt height-adjustment trim during refitting. Verify restraint operation and trim retention after work; no restraint-system isolation or acceptance procedure is supplied.
- 28:08 — Lower-panel access. Two screws are removed using an 8 mm socket in the filmed vehicle. The exact screw locations and tightening torque remain unconfirmed.
- 31:02 — Door-control connection. The film shows a Continental door-control module and identifies a red connector as No. 3. No. 3 is the connection identifier used in this demonstration, not proof of a three-pin plug or electrical pin 3.
- 31:38–32:08 — Power-adapter and module connections. The source shows the white 5P adapter plugs and the W117/156/176 module. Its captions refer to A or C for the demonstrated connection and B for the vent-light connection. Port letters and 5P identify connectors; they do not define voltage, polarity, CAN wiring or compatibility with another module revision.
- 33:10–35:48 — Reassembly. The source shows dashboard/trim refitting and later reconnecting the tweeter. Check the demonstrated wire route to avoid pinching, then verify all connectors, trim retention and door/window/seat-belt movement. The source does not provide a complete acceptance checklist.
- 36:14–37:00 — Factory menu demonstration. The filmed center display navigates the vehicle settings to ambient-light color and brightness. It shows a 12-color selection screen and brightness levels, with 0 described as off and 5 as the brightest. This is a demonstration on the filmed setup, not proof of completed programming or correct operation of every color/zone on another vehicle.
Programming, pairing and troubleshooting
The written source's programming/flashing, function, troubleshooting and DIP-switch headings contain no procedures. The video menu demonstration does not supply the required coding tool, software version, settings, recovery steps or phone pairing instructions. Obtain the exact kit-specific instructions and confirmed vehicle configuration before completing these tasks.
Review required
- Confirm the 2015 head-unit boundary, the supplied module/kit revision and any optional illuminated-vent package.
- Obtain approved power isolation/reconnection, fuse, ground, polarity, CAN, connector-orientation and cavity-map instructions. Confirm rear-door wire matching and module A/B/C/No. 3 connections for the exact hardware.
- Verify trim/screw torque, clip retention, door-boot sealing, wire clearance and seat-belt operation with the actual vehicle.
- Correct the English video's opening recognition errors and the repetitive 04:00–06:24 clip translation, then review caption segmentation, timing and readability throughout. Partial sentences may continue across consecutive cues; the sampled frames alone do not prove text has been lost.
- Complete continuous playback, full source/English audio listening, every-step translation review and physical function/technical acceptance. The current still-frame review and subtitle/script reading do not establish these results.
