Archive reference: CKCP source archive. Local review status: HOLD — source-version, wiring and media corrections remain pending.

The archived description identifies a 2013–2019 Mercedes-Benz GLA156 front-vent lighting kit with replacement vents and factory ambient-light control. Confirm the exact vehicle equipment, market, steering side and supplied controller before installation. The archive does not establish compatibility for every vehicle in that year range. Controller labels mentioning other chassis do not extend this guide's fitment.

Kit identification

Five illuminated front air vents, controller and two harness groups

The numbered parts in the archived product photograph are:

  1. Five front air vents.
  2. Ambient-light control module.
  3. Front vent-light harness.
  4. Module power cable.

The controller's retained physical label identifies a main module and ports C, B and A. The printed “5.0” is an identifier on this hardware; it does not establish a supply voltage. Match the actual kit label and connectors to the approved wiring documentation.

Video reading guide

The stages below describe the currently attached video. The original article's archived video and the attached English video's source have different video identities and visible controller labels. Their equivalence has not been established. The attached video remains in place while this is resolved.

The Chinese article contains a product image and a video reference, but no written wiring diagram or complete written installation procedure. These notes restore navigation to demonstrated stages. They are not a substitute for the missing vehicle- and kit-specific wiring instructions. Times are approximate; subtitle timing and terminology still need correction.

  1. Tools and door-panel removal — opening to about 02:00. The original article video shows trim tools, a small hook, a cable-feeding strip, tape, cutters and Torx tools. The attached video's transcript also lists T20 and T30 tools. The demonstration removes the door trim strip, tweeter and panel fasteners, supports the panel, releases the handle cable and disconnects the original plugs. At about 01:35, the reverse of the panel and handle-cable clip are visible. Fastener positions and tightening requirements still need confirmation for the actual vehicle.

  2. Access trim and the door-to-body passage — about 02:00–03:25. The demonstration opens the sill/side trim and releases the rubber passage between the door and body. At about 03:20, a cable-feeding strip is visible through this passage. Some English subtitles call this strip or the rubber passage “window trim”; those names do not identify the parts shown.

  3. Route the extension harness — about 03:25–05:05. The source distinguishes the labelled harness end remaining in the door from the unlabelled end routed into the cabin. At about 04:35, a tool is shown puncturing the rubber boot to pass a cable. This is a modification to the boot. An approved opening, sealing and abrasion-protection method is missing, so the archive's blanket “non-destructive” claim is not sufficient acceptance evidence.

  4. Door-module power adapter — about 05:05–05:50. At about 05:12, the demonstration identifies a door-module connector marked No. 3 and uses an adapter between the original plug and module. No. 3 refers to the labelled connector, not a documented pin number. The transcript describes an extension connection using a 5P plug. Its pin assignment, polarity, circuit protection and isolation requirements are not supplied; do not derive them from the visible connector colour or numbering.

  5. Remove the original vents — about 05:50–07:10. The demonstration uses a hook on a vent support member rather than a movable vane. At about 06:40, the hook and centre-vent removal are visible. The transcript describes clipped retention and three centre vents, with the outer vents removed separately. Exact engagement points and the approved removal method need confirmation to avoid damaging the vanes, duct or trim.

  6. Route the five vent-light branches — about 07:10–09:10. The source describes three lamp branches for the centre vents and separate outer branches. At about 08:00, the centre vent openings and harness routing are visible. The demonstration feeds the harness across the dashboard and leaves the centre connections at their vent openings. Routing clearances and securing points require verification before the trim is closed.

  7. Attach the lamp connectors and seat the vents — about 09:10–10:45. The source distinguishes the centre and outer vent forms, aligns keyed lamp-connector tabs and cautions against breaking the lamp connection while seating a vent. At about 09:50, vent fitting and this caution are visible. Keep the harness clear of the vent mechanism. The orientation-mark wording in the English subtitles needs correction against the source and a readable close-up; do not use its “QP” wording as a parts identifier.

  8. Controller connection and placement — about 10:45–11:20. At about 11:00, a controller with ports C, B and A is visible. The source describes the vent-light harness connecting to B and a separate extension connection. This describes the controller shown; it does not establish that every controller revision uses the same wiring. The original article video shows a different label at this stage. Confirm the supplied revision and approved port assignments, then establish a secure mounting location and cable clearance.

  9. Restore the door panel and original functions — about 11:20–13:10. At about 12:00, the handle cable and clip are visible during refitting. The demonstration restores the original door connections, handle cable, panel, tweeter, screws and trim. English colour-matching and “notice card” wording are unreliable: identify each original connector and component from its actual position, keying and the corrected source instructions. Vehicle-specific fastening requirements remain pending.

  10. Ambient-light controls — about 13:10 to the end. The demonstrated head-unit menu includes ambient-light brightness and colour. The frame at about 13:26 shows brightness 5; the frame at about 14:00 shows a 12-colour selector and illuminated vents. The transcript describes level 0 as off and level 5 as the brightest setting, but the full range was not verified by continuous playback. This demonstration does not establish that all head units, equipment packages or controller revisions provide the same menu or need no coding.

Wiring and fitment information still required

The archive has no approved electrical diagram. Obtain the exact door-module/adapter connector identities, cavity assignments, circuit protection, supply and ground details, controller revision, and any coding or pairing requirements. Resolve the two video-source versions before treating either as the approved installation reference. Do not substitute a similarly titled tutorial or a diagram for another chassis.

Checks before closing the installation

The following are pending acceptance checks, not recorded completed tests:

  1. Verify all five vent lights, colour changes and the supported brightness/off settings on the actual vehicle.
  2. Check vent adjustment and airflow, secure retention, and cable clearance from the vent mechanism.
  3. Inspect the door passage for sealing, abrasion protection and clearance through full door/window movement.
  4. Confirm the door handle, locks, windows, tweeter and other disconnected original functions work after refitting.
  5. Check controller mounting, harness retention and any vehicle faults. Record the exact fault-isolation procedure if a branch does not light or does not follow the controls.

The English video still needs source-aligned subtitle/narration corrections, readable translations for retained Chinese technical captions, and continuous sound-and-picture review. This local revision is preparation for further review; it does not establish upload readiness or technical acceptance.
