Archive reference: CKCP source archive. Local review status: HOLD — wiring conflicts, video corrections and technical acceptance remain open.

The archived tutorial identifies a 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class 214 and describes a replacement-style installation for a visual rear-lighting effect. The demonstration fits a long centre light strip and two side strips around the existing rear lamp area. It also temporarily removes and reinstalls original lamp assemblies to gain access. These are distinct operations: fitting the strip kit does not establish that it replaces the vehicle's original brake, turn-signal or other required lighting functions.

The demonstrated vehicle and kit are the reference for this guide. The archive does not establish compatibility with every E-Class 214 body style, market, year or lamp specification. Confirm the exact vehicle, kit revision and connector arrangement before installation.

Parts shown in the archived product photo

Centre strip, two side strips, control module and harness, adhesion-promoter packets, connector housings and shaping tape

The six numbered groups in the photo are:

  1. Long centre light strip.
  2. Left and right side light strips.
  3. Light-strip control module with its connecting harness.
  4. Surface-preparation packets. The actual packets say Adhesion Promoter; this is more specific than the photo's general “Adhesive” legend. Do not treat them as lubricant or as an unspecified sealing compound.
  5. Wire-end connector housings. The photo does not provide a verified terminal-cavity or polarity diagram.
  6. Shaping tape, as named in the source. Its appearance does not establish a waterproofing rating or an approved sealing method.

The control-box label shows “E-Class control box”, “E-Class full-width tail light”, an input-voltage marking of 12 V, and production batch 202405. These are readings of the photographed label, not approval to connect to an arbitrary vehicle circuit. Confirm the supplied module's label and approved wiring information for the actual kit.

Wiring information that must be resolved

The archived “Wiring Diagram” section contains no diagram. The available written troubleshooting notes and the corresponding installation video disagree on an important connection location:

  • The written source says the adapter connects to the left rear bumper tail light.
  • The source-video connection segment, around 13:40–14:10, refers to the right rear upper tail light.

Do not choose a side from these conflicting descriptions or copy wire colours into a pinout. A kit-specific diagram must identify the lamp assembly, connector view, terminal numbers, power and signal functions, and the module branch being discussed.

The written source also says the module must be inside the trunk lid and must drive the added strips directly, without an extension lead between the module and the strips. The video shows a longer lead being routed up from a side-lamp area. The archive does not clearly identify whether that lead belongs to the input harness or an output branch. Keep the written limitation visible, and obtain the correct branch layout before changing any connections.

Installation video reading guide

The times below are approximate navigation points from the locally bound source and English video. They describe visible stages of the demonstration; they do not supply missing cutting dimensions, wiring specifications or tightening values. The current English subtitles and narration need correction, so repeated phrases such as “remove the screws”, “four strips” or “don't open this wire” must not be treated as reliable technical directions.

  1. 00:12–01:45 — Tools, trunk-lid lining and original garnish. The demonstration introduces the vehicle and tools, then opens the inner trunk-lid lining around the warning-triangle holder. A trim strip above an original lamp is shown being released. The English reference to “four strips” is unreliable; the source refers to trim/garnish, not a verified count of four replacement parts.
  2. 02:55–03:45 — Centre-strip removal and cable passage. The original central garnish/light-strip area is opened and a wire is fed through an opening. This wire-feeding action is distinct from disconnecting or removing the original lamp harness.
  3. 04:35–05:35 — Centre-strip positioning and surface preparation. The new long strip is positioned against the trunk lid. Surface preparation is shown along the fitting area. The supplied adhesion promoter and any separately used adhesive or sealant must be identified by their actual kit instructions.
  4. 06:30–07:10 — Centre-strip refitting and wire-exit treatment. The strip is held near the rear fitting area, with backing material and a wire passage visible. The video also discusses trimming and sealing. The archive does not provide a verified cut line, sealant specification, curing interval or water-ingress test; confirm these before any irreversible modification.
  5. 08:05–09:05 — Side-lamp access. Interior side trim is moved aside and a fastener is accessed; an original side lamp assembly is then held away from the body. Record the connector, seals and retained hardware for the actual vehicle. The video is not evidence of a complete replacement specification for the original lighting assembly.
  6. 09:50–10:35 — Side-strip fitting and original-lamp refitting. A narrow added strip and its small wires are visible on the rear of the original lamp assembly. The assembly is then moved back toward the body. The wiring must remain clear of the mounting and sealing surfaces; the archive does not supply approved clearance measurements or tightening values.
  7. 11:20–12:50 — Harness routing. Small wires and a longer lead are routed from the side-lamp area toward the trunk lid and wrapped along the route. Confirm the input/output branch distinction noted above. The video does not provide a complete connector-cavity diagram or an approved repair/splice method.
  8. 13:40–14:20 — Module and connection discussion. The installer shows module connectors and vehicle wiring inside the trunk-lid area. This is where the left/right connection conflict occurs. Connector appearance, wire colour and camera orientation alone do not resolve polarity or circuit function.
  9. 14:45–15:53 — Trim and lining restoration. The side trim and trunk-lid lining are refitted, including the warning-triangle holder. The inspected ending shows restoration work, rather than a completed dynamic lighting test. The English ending caption remains “Clip!” over a long restoration interval and needs revision.

Troubleshooting notes retained from the written source

  1. No added-strip illumination: the source advises checking the adapter connection and whether the wiring has been pinched. Its stated connection location is the left rear bumper lamp, but that location conflicts with the video. Resolve the exact connector and branch before rewiring.
  2. Only the centre strip illuminates: the source says to place the module inside the trunk lid and connect the strips directly to the module, without output extension leads. Obtain the verified branch diagram and module mounting requirements before changing the arrangement.
  3. The problem remains: contact factory technical support with the vehicle details, kit/module revision and clear photos of the affected connections.

These troubleshooting notes are not a substitute for a verified circuit diagram or a record that the original vehicle lamps still operate correctly.

Effect demonstration and acceptance still required

The archived separate effect-video reference has no article identifier and cannot be uniquely resolved. The inspected installation-video frames do not establish the sequential-lighting behaviour or the complete vehicle-lighting acceptance result. A dynamic effect display is separate from installation evidence and from testing original tail, brake, indicator, hazard and reverse functions.

Before this guide can leave HOLD, obtain the correct wiring and branch diagram; confirm vehicle/kit fitment, mechanical retention and sealing; correct the English video against the source; and complete the applicable vehicle-function and fault checks. Road-use applicability for the actual product and destination also needs explicit supporting information. This archive does not establish such applicability.

English installation video

The existing video is retained as the bound installation reference. Its subtitles and narration remain an internal draft pending correction and complete sound-and-picture review.
