Original English guide from the CKCP tutorial centre. Check your vehicle, equipment and connector version before installation.

Source archive: CKCP source archive. This guide describes the internally illuminated front vents in this exact source. Confirm the vehicle and supplied kit before installation.

Scope and parts

The source product photograph is labelled “2020–2022 Mercedes-Benz GLE/GLS, W167” and “64-colour illuminated air vents.” These are the labels on the photographed product, not an independently verified compatibility list. The archived tutorial is filed under GLE167, from model year 2020 onward. The different year ranges and the photograph's GLS wording require confirmation for a particular vehicle, kit revision and steering configuration; this guide does not extend fitment to other models or later years.

The source photograph numbers the parts as follows:

  1. 01 — Air vent assemblies. The photograph shows four rectangular vent assemblies.
  2. 02 — Vent power harness. This is the lead identified as the vent power harness in the source legend.
  3. 03 — Ambient-light module. The photographed label reads “LIN light control module,” “W167 footwell-light adapter,” and “STM32 V4.0 PG4.0.” These are identification markings, not a verified electrical specification.
  4. 04 — Footwell-light adapter lead. This is the lead identified separately from the vent harness.

The original vent control component transferred during installation is separate from the added ambient-light module in the parts photograph. The source does not give a pinout, voltage, fuse rating, connector-to-port diagram or module setup procedure. Confirm the supplied harness and module connections rather than identifying them by wire colour or an adjacent tutorial.

Illustrated installation sequence

The procedure photograph contains the following twelve actions, read from top to bottom. “Right front” follows the source caption and depicted vehicle; it is not a confirmed instruction for every left-hand-drive or right-hand-drive version. These captions recover the source sequence; they do not supply the missing electrical isolation procedure or mechanical specifications.

  1. Release the dashboard decorative trim. The first panel marks the right-side edge of the long dashboard trim with an arrow and red box.
  2. Remove the decorative trim. The next panel shows that trim lifted away at the marked area.
  3. Release the air vent trim panel. The third panel shows the long vent panel being lifted away from the dashboard.
  4. Disconnect the connecting plug. The fourth panel highlights the plug behind the removed panel.
  5. Remove the screws marked with red circles. The source marks their positions on the back of the vent panel. It gives no screw size or torque.
  6. Transfer the original vehicle's vent control component into the CK vent. The red box shows the component to be transferred. Its exact identification and retention must be confirmed on the supplied assembly.
  7. Refasten the screws after fitting the vents. The source shows the same rear screw positions again. A tightening specification is not provided.
  8. Feed the lead from the marked dashboard opening toward the footwell-light location. The arrow shows the starting area. The source does not show the complete route, securing points or clearance behind the reinstalled trim.
  9. Remove the right-front footwell lower panel. Use the location depicted in the source, subject to confirmed steering-side applicability.
  10. Remove the retaining clip. The red box marks the clip in the lower panel.
  11. Disconnect the original footwell-light plug. The next panel marks the factory plug behind that panel.
  12. Connect the supplied adapter plug. The last panel shows the adapter connection. It does not establish the full module/harness circuit or connector pin assignments.

The source ends its illustrated connection sequence here. Before closing the trim, the kit-specific connection layout, original connectors, vent control operation, harness retention and protection from pinching still need to be checked. Reassembly and electrical checks require the correct procedure for the actual vehicle and kit; no unshown screw, splice, fuse or coding setting is prescribed here.

Appearance reference and menu wording

The original effect photograph shows purple illumination inside all four front vents, with ambient lighting along the dashboard and console. This is an appearance reference for the internal-illumination version.

The visible Chinese menu labels translate to Colour, Single colour, Multicolour, Dynamic multicolour, Effects and Welcome. Their presence in one still photograph does not verify that the installed kit supports each mode, all 64 colours, brightness adjustment or welcome behaviour on every vehicle. The source contains no coding instructions or recorded functional acceptance test.

Troubleshooting from the source

These are the six source troubleshooting branches. They describe checks to investigate a symptom, not proof that a particular component has failed. Use the appropriate vehicle/kit procedure when disconnecting or testing electrical parts.

  1. One light source shows a different colour. Check whether its connecting lead is loose and reseat the plug. The source suggests exchanging light-source and connector positions to isolate the problem. Confirm that the components and connections are interchangeable before doing so. Replace the light source only if damage or failure is established.
  2. The lighting at an entire location does not match the system's single-colour setting. Check for loose or detached pins at the main harness connection and reseat the connection. Replace a defective connecting harness if needed. The source does not specify a pin position or a repinning procedure.
  3. The entire vent fails to illuminate in any colour. Check whether the main wiring has been pinched or damaged during routing, potentially causing a short circuit. Check that the module and original vehicle connector connections are fully seated. A damaged main harness or module may need replacement; the source does not provide an electrical test sequence to identify which one.
  4. The original ambient lighting cannot be adjusted. Check that the key/ignition is in the on state and that all original vehicle plugs are correctly seated.
  5. The original ambient lighting works, but the added lighting cannot be adjusted. Check the connection between the footwell-light module and the original footwell light. Replace a defective connecting lead or module if necessary after identifying the fault.
  6. The problem remains after these checks. Contact your sales representative for technical support. Provide the vehicle details, kit/module identification, affected vent or lighting location, and the observed symptom so the connection and compatibility can be checked.

Checks still required before release

This local draft remains on hold. The current English pictures contain obstructed hardware and effect areas, mistranslated captions and untranslated procedure labels; the recovered text above does not repair those pictures. Vehicle/year/steering-side compatibility, module and footwell adapter connections, electrical isolation and circuit protection, vent-control transfer, trim retention, safe harness routing, original ambient-light operation and actual mode behaviour still require the corresponding source information and verification.

This exact archived source contains three pictures and six troubleshooting branches, with no video or external video link. No video from a similarly titled external-illumination tutorial has been substituted. Page display review and technical acceptance are still pending.
