Guide scope and kit identification

The archived Chinese article identifies this as a replacement 64-color ambient-lighting kit for 2015–2021 C-Class 205 / GLC253, with versions 807, 808, 809, and 801. It says factory head-unit programming/coding is required for color control and describes automatic color changes and factory high-specification functions. These are source claims; the article does not identify the exact coding procedure, software, head-unit configuration, or the individual functions supported on each vehicle.

Confirm the vehicle year, configuration, kit version, and module label before using the illustrated connections. The photograph and the retained installation film show different module labels. This guide keeps those examples separate. The film also includes a “basic ambient lighting” chapter label despite its multicolor introduction; that label does not establish that a basic kit and an RGB kit share settings.

Product photograph and numbered parts

Source image 001 · English version Source image 001 · English version

The original photograph labels these parts:

  1. Two rear-door RGB light strips.
  2. Two front-door RGB light strips.
  3. Two RGB strips for the sides of the center console.
  4. Two front-footwell light leads.
  5. Two rear-footwell light leads.
  6. Center-console RGB connection lead.
  7. Front-footwell connection lead.
  8. Four door RGB connection leads.
  9. Four door-handle light leads.
  10. Center-console cupholder/storage-compartment lights.
  11. Interior main-module power/communication harness.
  12. Four door submodule power/communication harnesses.
  13. Interior/door module set.

In the original photograph, the center-console main module is marked Tx, 2.4G, 807/808/809, with serial number 5.24.00827. The four Rx door modules are marked FL (front left), FR (front right), RL (rear left), and RR (rear right), with the same photographed serial number. The socket labels are SPI4, RGB3, RGB2, and RGB1. These are module socket labels, not connector pin numbers or voltage specifications. The serial number identifies the photographed item; it is not a vehicle code or a setting to enter.

Some labels in the existing English photograph are inaccurate or incomplete. Use the numbered legend above for reading the photograph; obtain a corrected image and confirmed module instructions before relying on its electrical labels.

Installation film: chapter navigation

The following outline refers only to retained archive film 245, the first video below. Its source-version relationship to the original article link remains unresolved. It documents the demonstrated work without establishing universal vehicle wiring or kit compatibility.

  1. 00:11–00:43 — Tools and door-panel access. The source lists flathead screwdrivers, a T30 Torx tool, a plastic trim tool, harness tape, a grinder, a wire-pulling tool, cutters, a soldering iron, and hot-melt glue. It removes two screws beneath the armrest, releases the panel at the seam, then disconnects the handle cable and electrical connections. The film repeats the procedure for the doors. The existing English opening omits this information.
  2. 00:46–01:49 — Door trim and RGB strip. Two flathead screwdrivers press the metal retainers from behind to release the trim. The source then works on the strip’s attachment points with the demonstrated tools and cleans the remaining material before fitting the replacement. These are trim/strip attachment points, not an instruction to solder vehicle wiring. Material, heat, adhesive, and permissible trim modification still require kit-specific confirmation.
  3. 01:53–02:05 — Door-handle light. The film fits the light into the existing holder. For a demonstrated holder without the light guide, it removes the housing and fixes the lamp board at the indicated position. The precise housing variant and fastening requirements are not provided.
  4. 02:07–03:00 — Door module and harness adapter. The demonstrated Rx module shows serial number 5.24.00729. The door RGB strip uses its SPI4 socket and the handle light uses RGB3; sockets 1 and 2 are unused in this example. At about 02:25, “No. 3” identifies the demonstrated door-control harness connector: it is not pin 3. The kit adapter is connected in line, the vehicle plug is restored, and the spare supply connector is connected to the Rx module. The rear-door example uses the same demonstrated strip/handle socket arrangement. Confirm the supplied module and harness before applying this arrangement.
  5. 03:04–03:40 — Center-console access. Release the console trim, press the two clips inward, remove the two screws, lift the assembly, and disconnect the connectors underneath as demonstrated.
  6. 03:41–05:51 — Console-side RGB strips. Fit the left and right strips with the lamp heads/wires facing inward in the demonstrated orientation. Peel the adhesive backing, start at the lower mounting position, and secure the ends as shown. The film uses hot-melt glue; its temperature, quantity, and suitability for a particular trim are not specified.
  7. 05:55–07:54 — CAN, supply, and ground demonstration. The source removes the threshold trim and lifts the carpet to show the CAN connection area, including brown/red and brown wires. It identifies a white connector group from the head-unit direction and an unused position; it does not provide an identified vehicle connector/pin map. At 06:51–07:01, the trimmed feature is a corner of the connector housing, not a metal terminal. The later ground-stud and fuse-tap demonstration must be checked against the exact vehicle: the film points to a 5 A fuse beneath a 10 A fuse but supplies no fuse-position number, tap orientation, circuit verification, or complete fuse arrangement. Do not select a circuit from this visual position alone.
  8. 08:03–09:33 — Console lights and refitting. Connect the console extension/splitter to the cupholder and storage-compartment lamp heads. Route the leads under the console toward the right front footwell. Restore the original console connectors, clip the lamps into their demonstrated positions, connect the RGB-strip leads, and refit the console without trapping the harness.
  9. 09:35–10:20 — Demonstrated main-module sockets and footwell routing. On the film’s Tx module, the console RGB strips use SPI4, the cupholder/storage lights use RGB3, and the footwell lights use RGB1. RGB2 has no demonstrated assignment. The front-footwell lead routes across to the opposite front side; the rear-footwell connection is shown from the front-footwell connection. The film’s Tx label includes W117/156/176/246 and serial number 5.24.00729. This different label does not extend this article’s fitment or prove its module settings apply to the photographed 807/808/809 module.

The article’s wiring-diagram and effect-demonstration headings contain no diagram or results material. The retained film does not replace a vehicle-specific wiring diagram or prove the article’s complete functional claims.

Main-module DIP operation: second video

The second video is the article’s archived 2.4G main-module operation supplement, archive film 006. It demonstrates a separate module/board version. Use it to understand the shown controls; confirm the matching module label and model/year chart before selecting settings.

  1. 00:18–00:28: Disconnect the module power connector before opening the housing. Release the housing and expose the board as shown, with the row of lamp connectors at the top.
  2. 00:35–00:54: Lift the covering film at the DIP area. Identify switches 1, 2, 3, and 4 on the board.
  3. 01:00–01:05: In the demonstrated board orientation, up is ON and down is OFF. Check the board’s ON marking rather than assuming the orientation of another module.
  4. 01:15–01:34: Match the vehicle model/year to the correct chart and operating mode. The demonstrated APP setup is 1 ON, 2 ON, 3 OFF, 4 ON. This is not a universal C-Class/GLC setting.
  5. 01:42–02:00: The chart distinguishes physical DIP values, X-marked entries, and APP vehicle codes. The APP setup row shows ON/ON/OFF/ON with NULL in its VID column. Other vehicle rows and modes have different values; neither NULL nor a photographed neighboring VID should be copied as this vehicle’s code.
  6. 02:00–02:20: The narration describes selecting the matching vehicle code in the app and sending it. The sampled screen shows a chart rather than the complete app operation. The compatible app, connection process, code selection, and successful readback still need verification for the supplied module.

DIP/module setup and factory head-unit programming/coding are separate operations. This supplement does not supply the missing head-unit coding procedure.

Troubleshooting from the article

If the screen’s ambient-light option cannot be operated or returns to its previous state:

  1. Check whether the vehicle has entered sleep mode.
  2. Check whether the main-module DIP setting is correct and the switches are fully in position.
  3. Check the main-module harness for an abnormal connection.
  4. Check the ambient-lighting coding and the brightness coding selection.

The article supplies no sleep duration, confirmed DIP combination, harness measurements, or coding values for these checks.

If one light displays an inconsistent color, test red, blue, and green separately. The source specifically says to check the red lamp wire for a red mismatch and the blue lamp wire for a blue mismatch. It supplies no separate green-wire diagnosis or universal pin assignment.

Review required before upload

This draft remains under review. The first video’s historical source version conflicts with the version recorded for the article link. The photograph and videos show different module labels/versions. Exact fitment, module/port compatibility, CAN pins, supply/fuse arrangement, ground fastening, DIP/APP selection, and factory coding require confirmation. The existing English image and videos still need media corrections, including the omitted opening/tools, “utility knives” for screwdrivers, “Wubi head,” “Matie,” and the connector-housing corner described as a pin. Subtitle timing/readability, continuous playback, and spoken audio have not received a complete review.
