The source demonstration identifies the 2024-model E-Class E214 and a two-seat ventilation and heating kit operated through replacement memory-button switch panels. The pictured version uses replacement backrest and cushion foam with integrated fans and three ventilation levels. This source description does not establish fitment for every E214 model year, market, seat configuration or kit revision.
Product and kit identification
The photograph numbers eight component groups:
- Ventilated backrest foam assemblies.
- Ventilated seat-cushion foam assemblies.
- Backrest heater pads.
- Seat-cushion heater pads.
- Ventilation and heating control modules.
- Main power harnesses.
- Driver-side replacement memory touch switch panel.
- Passenger-side replacement memory touch switch panel.
The separate fan close-ups illustrate fans fitted inside the foam; they are not eight additional loose parts. The photographed control-module label includes SC20608001, N-HVAC01C-BOARD-V1.0.0 and 2024/10/20. Its 206/254/214 marking identifies the photographed module family, rather than proving interchangeability between vehicles. Match the actual supplied parts and connectors to their approved instructions.
Installation sequence shown in the source video
The following sequence follows the exact archived E214 demonstration. It restores the source steps missing from the short written original. The current English video still contains incorrect and repeated subtitles; the times below refer to the source picture. Seat service, electrical isolation, pin assignments, routing specifications and fastener torques require the instructions for the actual vehicle and kit before installation.
-
Release the headrest and its trim — 00:19–00:42. The demonstrator releases the small trim clips, removes the exposed retaining screw, moves the headrest outward and disconnects its connector. The component being moved is the headrest; the English subtitle's “nut can be pushed outward” does not correctly name it. The source tool card shows a hook, socket tools and a plastic trim lever, but does not supply a complete tool-size list.
-
Remove the backrest rear cover — 00:48–01:14. Two retaining clips are indicated in sequence as positions one and two. Release the corresponding clips on both sides, then lift and withdraw the rear cover and disconnect its connector. These are two clip positions, not a position numbered “12.”
-
Release the backrest upholstery retainers — 01:17–03:46. Work around the demonstrated perimeter and the black internal clips on both sides. Release the retained upholstery and lift the cover and foam assembly to expose the original foam. The source shows individual clip locations; it does not provide a substitute seat-service diagram or authorize pulling against engaged retainers.
-
Replace the cushion foam and lay out the heater pad — 03:47–05:59. The video releases underside perimeter and metal retainers, then moves the cover aside. It specifically notes that some side clips are difficult to remove and demonstrates leaving the cover attached while gaining enough access to replace the foam. Lay the heater pad out as shown, refit the cushion cover and restore the released perimeter and side retainers with its leads routed clear of their contact points. At 05:31 the source is laying out heating pads, although the current English subtitles still repeat “OK, remove it.”
-
Refit the backrest foam, heating pad and cover — 06:04–07:14. Release the demonstrated backrest cover clips, replace the foam/heating arrangement and restore the cover retainers. Slide the foam assembly into position from the top as shown and engage its clips. The long repeated English removal passage must not be used to interpret this refitting sequence.
-
Route the seat harness extensions — 07:15–07:42. The demonstration connects the ventilation lead and the green heating connector to their corresponding extensions, then secures the leads along the original harness toward the area below the seat. The connectors must be identified for the actual kit; their photographed colors do not establish a universal pinout. The current English heating-connector caption appears before that source action.
-
Identify the control-module harness branches — 07:44–08:15. The source shows two green heating connections and two white ventilation connections and then discusses the power adapter. It mentions routing toward the passenger-side floor/accessory-socket area. The archived material does not establish an approved circuit, connector cavity, voltage or ground assignment, so this description is a source-routing reference rather than a power-connection specification.
-
Route the switch control lead through the door/cabin connection — 08:17–09:16. The single blue control lead with a white connector is shown extending from the module harness toward the door, following the existing loom at the A-pillar base. The demonstration uses corresponding unused positions in the door pass-through connector. An empty cavity alone is not sufficient evidence of a permitted terminal position: obtain the exact connector identities, cavity assignments, terminal-retention and sealing instructions before making this connection.
-
Access the door switch assembly — 09:18–10:42. On the back of the removed door trim, the source identifies the perimeter screws as T20. It disconnects the illustrated connectors and lifts the trim section while protecting the light guide. The inner screws and seat-control button covers are then removed. The switch backing has two metal retaining clips and two tabs, which are released before withdrawing the original switch. The English repetitions about the light guide omit the source T20 identification.
-
Fit the replacement switch to the demonstrated backing — 10:43–12:10. The source shows modification of the black rubber piece and the original vehicle metal backing, followed by alignment of the replacement switch, its metal retainers and clips. The English phrase “supplied metal sheet” misidentifies the demonstrated backing. No dimensioned cutting template or approved part-revision boundary is provided; obtain those instructions before cutting either piece. The demonstrated reassembly restores the switch assembly, seat-control caps and screws and routes the lead through the corner gap without trapping it.
-
Reconnect the switch adapters and restore the trim — 12:13–13:16. The demonstrated three-branch adapter joins the original black heating-switch connector, the original switch connection and the new white four-wire switch connector. The single blue control lead from the cabin side connects to its corresponding new-switch lead. It is a blue lead with a white connector, not a general “white-blue wire” pin designation. The source also mentions trimming a connector edge if it will not fit, but provides no approved housing/keying specification: verify the exact adapter revision and mating connectors instead of treating trimming as a general instruction. Restore the remaining original connections and trim as shown.
Troubleshooting and checks retained from the original article
The original article lists the following checks. They are starting points for diagnosis, not confirmed causes for every kit revision:
- The ventilation switch does not respond: check the correct harness connections against the approved kit wiring information.
- The switch lights briefly and then turns off: the original suggests checking for reversed fan wiring. Confirm the connector and circuit assignments before changing any connection.
- A cushion or backrest fan does not run: the original suggests checking for reversed connections, open circuits or short circuits in that branch. Identify the affected branch using the kit diagram.
- A fan makes an abnormal noise: check for foreign objects, contact with wiring and incorrect installation of the fan/foam assembly.
- Before handover: verify the installed functions and investigate any diagnostic faults. Resolve the cause before clearing fault codes and follow the vehicle's service procedure. The original's handover statement is not evidence that the pictured installation passed technical acceptance.
The written source contains no separate effect-display clip. The archived demonstration ends with wiring and reassembly; it does not provide a documented final test of both seats, all ventilation levels, heating, seat movement and diagnostic status.
