Vehicle and source scope

The original Chinese article specifies the 2022–2024 Mercedes-Benz C-Class 206. The linked demonstration is archived as video 109, “206 rear-door welcome lighting.” The source describes an adapter installation that preserves the original wiring, requires no programming or flashing, and follows the factory door-open/door-closed lighting behavior. These are the source's claims; this review does not establish compatibility for every vehicle configuration or certify the finished electrical installation.

The article contains no product photographs or wiring diagram. Its original installation link leads to the video; its effect and troubleshooting sections contain no written procedure. The source-based chapters below restore the visible installation sequence. They do not replace the missing connector diagram or vehicle service instructions.

English installation video — archived demonstration 109

The retained local video is approximately 3 minutes 45 seconds long. Some English captions are inaccurate, repeated or ahead of the relevant source action. The chapter times below follow the source picture and visible Chinese captions rather than the unreliable English narration timing.

Tools shown

The source's tool screen shows a flat-blade screwdriver and a pointed pick/awl. The video uses these at connector housings and terminal locks. It does not supply a complete trim-removal tool list, electrical isolation procedure or torque specifications.

Installation chapters

1. Rear-door access and B-pillar connection — about 00:22–01:11

The demonstration starts with the rear door panel already removed. Its wording “remove the door” refers to this panel access; no removal of the complete door from its hinges is shown.

The demonstrator releases the connection at the B-pillar/door harness and pulls out the rubber wiring sleeve to prepare the lead route. At about 00:38–00:41, the source specifically shows the rubber sleeve being pulled out. The English caption incorrectly describes folding a wire back.

Keep the window glass raised during this demonstrated access operation. The source explicitly says not to lower the window because it makes this part difficult to withdraw. The connector housing and its inner locking/terminal insert are then opened as shown. A complete panel-removal procedure, connector release directions and the required power isolation remain to be confirmed for the actual vehicle.

2. Identify the supplied adapter and original terminal — about 01:11–02:09

Locate the supplied adapter harness. The source identifies a yellow original wire, exposes the connector insert and points to its molded position markings. At about 01:50–02:00, the source identifies position 6 and shows the terminal being released for the adapter.

Read position 6 as the source's connector-cavity reference. Do not select a wire only by color or treat the spoken counting sequence as an additional pin number. The existing English caption calls this a “55-pin connector,” but a complete connector identity and numbered pinout have not been independently established here. Verify the exact vehicle connector, cavity orientation and supplied harness revision against a confirmed diagram before terminal work.

The source demonstrates terminal extraction and an adapter connection rather than cutting the original wire. Its “non-destructive installation” claim depends on correct terminal handling and restoration; the footage does not certify that every installation is damage-free.

3. Insert the adapter and preserve the original circuit — about 02:12–03:02

The source inserts the adapter lead at the demonstrated original terminal position. The original lead that was withdrawn is transferred to the adapter's empty connector housing, the corresponding leads are aligned, and the mating adapter connections are joined.

The source explicitly says the original line must remain connected through the adapter. The added lead is then drawn through toward the door for the welcome-light connection. Much of the retained English caption during this operation says only “Take this wire,” omitting the extraction, adapter and through-connection steps. Those repeated captions are not a wiring instruction.

The precise terminal release method, adapter housing positions, polarity, electrical function and locking/sealing requirements remain to be verified. No new fuse rating, CAN connection or circuit function is inferred from the video.

4. Door-panel lamp harness and routing — about 03:02–03:30

With the door panel laid on a padded surface, the demonstrator locates the lamp adapter connection and routes its harness back through the original door-panel retaining clips. The source describes this as the lamp-installation side; the English phrase “center lamp” is not supported as a separate component identity.

A three-way branch harness is left accessible at the shown location for the later power-adapter connection. This translates the source's “three-way harness”; it is not a statement that three bare wires should be left exposed. The exact branch destinations and the module's final fixing position are not fully identified in the available diagram-free source.

5. Simulated lighting response — about 03:30–03:45

The source demonstrates the finished rear-door lighting and simulates the door-closed state: the welcome projection switches off, then lights again when the open state is restored. The door remains physically open during part of this simulation. This is the behavior shown, not evidence that a complete road-use or electrical acceptance test was performed.

For the actual installed vehicle, the expected source behavior is light on with the door open and light off with it closed. The method for simulating the closed state, restoring the latch safely, checking both rear doors and confirming unaffected factory functions must be established before using this as an acceptance procedure.

Missing installation and troubleshooting information

The original article's product and wiring sections have no images, and its troubleshooting section is only an unfinished “1.”. There is no complete fault table to translate. A confirmed module/harness diagram, electrical isolation instructions, terminal-lock and rubber-sleeve restoration checks, panel refitting procedure and vehicle-specific function checks are still needed.

If the installed response differs from the demonstrated open/on and closed/off behavior, the source does not provide a verified diagnostic branch. Record the vehicle configuration, harness revision, affected rear door and exact observed response so the correct connector and adapter instructions can be supplied. Do not substitute another C206 welcome-light video solely because its title looks similar.

Review required before release

The current English media still includes unsupported “Subtitle: Li Zongsheng” text at the beginning, “remove the door,” the rubber-sleeve mistranslation, prolonged repeated wire captions, an unverified “55-pin connector” identification, and the lamp/three-way-harness wording errors. Important connector captions are also out of step with the source picture. The existing media links and historical publication facts have been retained; this body revision has not repaired the video.

Full continuous playback, original-audio listening, English voiceover and caption timing/readability, exact connector/terminal acceptance, configuration-specific no-coding and factory-function claims, and final page review remain open. Public availability of the recorded video does not resolve those content and technical checks.
