This guide describes the rotating tweeter kit and the installation demonstrated in the exact video archived for CKCP source archive. The source identifies the product as a 64-color 4D rotating tweeter kit designed to work with the factory ambient lighting.
Vehicle and kit scope
The archived article names GLE167 and GLS167 and states 2020–2024. The product diagram below instead states GLE/GLS W167, 2020–2022. The opening card in the installation video names GLE and states 2019–2025. These source ranges conflict; they do not establish one confirmed fitment range. The demonstrated vehicle has factory tweeters. GLS installation, equipment differences and the exact vehicle year must be confirmed against the supplied kit before using this demonstration for another vehicle.
The three numbered groups in the product diagram are:
- Rotating tweeter assemblies — the two replacement assemblies for the front triangular tweeter trim positions.
- Modules — the diagram calls these ambient-light modules; the photographed labels identify them as rotation drive modules. The labels read C/E/S/GLC/GLE (4D), CKCP V1.1 and 2024/12/01. These are photographed kit identifiers, not approval for every listed vehicle.
- Adapter harnesses — the two harnesses shown with blue, white and black connector branches. Match the actual harness and module supplied with this kit; connector color alone does not define its electrical function.
Installation sequence shown in the source video
The numbered sequence below recovers the actions and captions in the bound video. The video begins with the main door panel already removed; it does not supply the complete door-panel removal procedure, electrical isolation procedure, connector pinout or fastening torque. Those details still require the correct vehicle service information and the exact kit instructions.
- Remove the original tweeter trim and grille (about 13–28 seconds). The presenter pulls the triangular trim outward, then works from the rear of the removed trim to release the original tweeter cover. The demonstrated action is at this particular trim position; a general prying direction or tool specification is not given.
- Remove the factory tweeter and route the replacement lead (about 28–42 seconds). The original tweeter is turned, pushed out of its mounting position and unplugged. The replacement tweeter lead is then passed through the original tweeter opening in the trim.
- Align the three clips and seat the replacement assembly (about 42–58 seconds). The presenter aligns the three mounting clips and presses them into their matching positions. The source describes a clip that is difficult to engage, rather than a cosmetic defect. The existing English video says “This clip looks a bit off”; that translation needs correction. The source does not specify an allowable pressing force.
- Use the supplied screws at the two rear holes shown, then refit the trim (about 58–87 seconds). For a large gap, the presenter points out two rear screw holes, aligns the supplied screws with them and fastens both. The trim is then returned to its original position with its clips engaged. The video gives no screw size or torque and does not establish an approved fix for a damaged or incompatible clip.
- Connect the demonstrated factory tweeter branch (about 87–98 seconds). Two black plugs are identified. Because this vehicle already has factory tweeters, the presenter mates the corresponding tweeter connection and wraps the unused black connector with tape. The video does not demonstrate the wiring for a vehicle without factory tweeters or identify a universally interchangeable branch.
- Connect the module and adapter harness (about 98–112 seconds). The remaining leads are shown with the rotation module and adapter harness: the source describes a three-wire lead mating with its corresponding three-wire connector, followed by a five-wire lead mating with the white five-wire connector. These descriptions identify the demonstrated connections; they do not provide a numbered cavity assignment, voltage or circuit diagram.
- Insert the blue adapter at the demonstrated door-control connection (about 113–123 seconds). The blue adapter plug is inserted at the door control module connection that the source calls connector No. 6. The remaining mating adapter end is connected to the corresponding original vehicle plug. “No. 6” is the source's connector designation; it is not an instruction to connect to pin 6, nor proof that the connector has six pins. The exact module and connector identity must be verified for the vehicle and harness in use.
- Secure the module and check rotation (about 123–129 seconds). The presenter instructs securing the module and testing the rotating tweeter. The video does not show a complete mounting/routing specification, final door-panel reassembly, a documented rotation/lighting result or a full check of the original door functions.
Bound installation video
This is the existing video bound to this archive. Its English captions still contain the incorrect vehicle name “JOY167”, a repeated opening subtitle and the clip-engagement mistranslation noted above. Chinese source captions and navigation remain visible. The written sequence uses the source-supported GLE designation and actions; these corrections have not yet been applied to the video.
Results and troubleshooting
The archived article contains no text or media under its results and troubleshooting headings. The source video ends with an instruction to test rotation, without a documented result sequence or fault-diagnosis procedure. A 64-color lighting result, sound check and confirmed remedy for rotation or lighting faults remain to be documented for this exact kit. No diagnosis or coding requirement can be concluded from those empty headings.
