Vehicle, kit and source scope

This guide concerns illuminated midrange speaker covers installed in the interior door panels. It describes the lighting covers and their adapter wiring, not an acoustic upgrade or a rotating-tweeter installation.

The written source names C-Class 206 and GLC 254, and says that owners of 214, 206 and 254 models can refer to the installation. The exact source-linked video also introduces those three chassis. Its pictured procedure is one demonstrated door panel, not a separate verified removal procedure for every chassis or door. The product diagram is specifically marked 2022–2024 C-Class W206. Confirm the cover shape, door position, factory ambient-light configuration and supplied module/harness for the actual vehicle before using the procedure for another chassis or year.

The diagram's module label reads 206 / 254 / 214 / 223, “matches factory ambient lighting,” ambient-light LIN control module (YC), CKCP V1.2, 2024/06/15. That label identifies the illustrated module. It does not add chassis 223 to this tutorial's verified scope or establish a vehicle pinout, coding requirement or load rating.

Product diagram and kit identifiers

Illuminated midrange speaker covers, extension leads, modules, mounting screws and adapter harnesses

The original diagram shows these numbered groups:

  1. 01 — Illuminated covers: four illustrated door speaker covers. The source describes 64-color illumination at the cover's inner and outer areas; this does not mean exterior vehicle lighting.
  2. 02 — Cover extension cables: the four illustrated extension leads.
  3. 03 — Ambient-light modules: the four illustrated LIN control modules.
  4. 04 — Mounting screws: the illustrated bag of fastening screws. The source does not specify M4 size, length or torque.
  5. 05 — Cover adapter harnesses: the four illustrated factory-style inline adapter leads.

The group numbers identify kit parts. The 4P and 5P connections discussed in the video identify module connector types; they do not provide individual vehicle pin functions. Do not infer a wiring map from the colored wires or from a module label shared with other products.

Source-linked installation video

Watch the source-linked English installation video

The existing English video needs substantial correction. Its first 136 seconds repeat “Work provided by the subtitles” instead of translating the visible removal, cover replacement and module-connection instructions. The written chapters below restore those directions from the actual source captions and pictures. Times locate the original picture retained in this video; the existing English narration is not an accepted installation guide.

The source tool graphic shows a flat-blade screwdriver, T30 driver, plastic trim tool and harness tape. During cover removal it additionally mentions cutters or a suitable tool for removing the original plastic fastening points. The source does not supply power-isolation instructions, restraint-system precautions, fastening torques or a chassis-specific final function test. The plastic fastening-point removal changes the original part; confirm the exact kit's approved removal and fastening method before making that change.

1. Remove the demonstrated door-panel screws and release the panel — 00:13–00:38

Use the T30 driver to remove the two screws first indicated in the source, then the additional screw shown at the next location. The exact demonstrated sequence shows three screw locations; it does not prove the same screw count or positions on all 214/206/254 doors.

Insert the trim tool at the shown edge and pull the door panel outward to release it. After release, the demonstrator lowers the indicated side slightly and moves the panel outward. Use the picture to identify the demonstrated movement; a complete chassis-specific clip map and service removal procedure are not provided.

2. Disconnect the panel connections and handle attachment — 00:38–00:53

Disconnect the shown electrical connectors. At the handle attachment, the source demonstrates lifting the attachment upward to release it, then disconnecting the remaining connections. It does not label every connector or give a latch-system adjustment procedure. Keep the exact original connections identifiable for restoration.

3. Remove the original cover fastenings and install the replacement — 00:53–01:20

Turn the removed door panel over to reach the back of the speaker cover. The source points to the original black plastic fastening points and describes removing them with cutters or a suitable grinding tool, then lifting out the original cover. Its reference to “weld points” concerns these plastic attachment points, not electrical solder joints.

Fit the illuminated replacement cover in the demonstrated position. The kit supplies replacement screws: the source shows installing them at the corresponding mounting holes to secure the cover. Neither the original diagram nor this sequence specifies M4 dimensions or a tightening torque. Obtain the approved removal method, screw specification and fastening criteria for the exact panel/kit; do not transfer an assumed specification from another cover tutorial.

4. Connect the cover extension lead and insulate the spare end — 01:20–01:46

Identify the cover's additional lighting connector. The source lays out a module, its adapter harness and an extension lead. Connect the matching extension lead to the cover lighting lead at the shown position. The source then insulates the unused extra connector with tape.

“Two connector ends” in the source describes the lead arrangement, not a confirmed two-pin cavity assignment. The source does not establish interchangeable connector functions for other kits.

5. Connect the module's 4P and 5P leads and close its housing — 01:46–02:23

Open the module housing as shown. The source identifies a 4P connector and a 5P connector on the module. Connect the cover lighting extension lead at the demonstrated 4P connection, insulate the remaining unused connector, and connect the black adapter harness at the demonstrated 5P connection.

Close the module housing and place the module for securing. The sequence identifies the demonstrated connector groups, but gives no pinout, polarity test or approval for a different module revision. Confirm the physical keyed connection and supplied harness before electrical acceptance.

6. Insert the adapter at the demonstrated factory ambient light and secure the wiring — 02:23–02:58

Locate the factory ambient light pointed out behind the door panel in the source. Disconnect its factory plug, insert the kit adapter at this lighting connection, and reconnect the original factory light to the corresponding adapter connection. The source emphasizes restoring the original lights, then securing the harness and module.

This is a wired inline connection at the demonstrated lamp, not permission to splice an unidentified feed. The source does not give a vehicle-wide connector number or wire-color/pin assignment. It concludes that the illuminated cover wiring is connected; the English subtitle “we release a code” comes from an incorrect transcription of illuminated cover, not a demonstrated coding instruction.

Troubleshooting and FAQ from the written source

These are the source's diagnostic branches. Swaps and reconnections require the applicable vehicle isolation/reconnection procedure, which the source does not provide.

  1. The new cover does not light after installation. Check that the door connector is fully seated, reseat it, adjust the ambient-light controls and lock the vehicle for a 10-minute sleep period, then observe the result. The source does not identify an exact control-menu path or diagnostic-code check.
  2. The new cover still does not light and factory-light plugs were left disconnected. Restore all original ambient-light connectors. The source says that a disconnected factory lighting circuit prevents the added cover from receiving the expected signal. This is its explanation, not a verified circuit schematic; do not use it to infer wiring or bridge a connector.
  3. Only one door's cover does not light. The source suggests exchanging the cover light unit and/or adapter harness with a compatible known-working one to identify the faulty component. Replace a confirmed defective light unit or lead as appropriate. It gives no approved cross-door interchange list or electrical test values.
  4. One door's cover is dim. Check whether its light unit has become detached. Reseat or secure the lighting connection as indicated by the source; the mounting method and acceptable brightness range are not specified.
  5. The light unit illuminates but does not change color. The source suggests swapping the light unit to check its operation, and replacing it if it is defective. It supplies no separate programming sequence or voltage diagnosis.
  6. All lighting on one door is off, including the factory ambient light. Check whether the door-panel fastening screws have trapped or compressed the wiring harness. No wire-repair specification or torque is supplied; obtain the correct repair procedure if damage is found.
  7. The checks do not resolve the fault. Contact your sales representative and ask them to involve technical support. Provide the affected chassis/door, supplied kit/module identification and which source diagnostic branch was tried.

Demonstration and completion limits

The written effects section contains no separate image or additional effect video. The source clip ends at the wiring/module stage. It does not show a complete panel refit, final fastener torque, all-door color synchronization test, diagnostic scan or door-function acceptance. Those instructions and checks are still needed before installation can be approved.

Review required before release

Confirm the exact chassis, year, door position, cover shape, factory ambient-light system and kit revision. Verify the plastic fastening-point removal method, supplied screw dimensions/torque, module connector orientation/pin functions, isolation/reconnection method and final refit/function checks.

Correct the current image's incomplete W206 heading and leftover source text; restore plain mounting-screw wording unless a size is verified; use LIN rather than TLIN and describe illumination at the cover's inner/outer areas without implying vehicle exterior lighting. Rebuild the first 136 seconds of English video instructions from the actual source, correct “release a code,” and check the remaining translations and timing against the source. The prepared/rendered subtitles and voice schedule extend to 181 seconds while the current file is about 177.83 seconds, so the ending requires a duration/timing check. No continuous listening/playback acceptance or technical certification has been performed here. The local page and any historical public-link HOLD require their own verification.
