This guide describes the illuminated door midrange speaker covers and the installation demonstrated in this tutorial's original video. The Chinese article also identifies 214 models as an installation reference. That reference does not establish compatibility with every model year, door trim, equipment version or steering configuration. The product photo is labeled 2023–2024 GLC W254; its module label specifies vehicles that already have factory ambient lighting. Confirm the exact vehicle and kit before installation.

These are illuminated covers. This tutorial does not document an audio upgrade, a speaker replacement or improved sound quality.

Kit identification

Mercedes-Benz C206 / GLC254 Illuminated Midrange Speaker Cover Installation — image 1

The original product image uses the following five numbered labels:

  1. 01 — Illuminated covers. Four covers are pictured.
  2. 02 — Cover extension cables. Four extension harnesses are pictured.
  3. 03 — Ambient lighting modules. Four black modules are pictured.
  4. 04 — Fixing screws. A bag of screws is pictured; the image does not establish the required quantity or screw specification for each door.
  5. 05 — Cover adapter harnesses. Four black adapter harnesses are pictured.

The source module label identifies a LIN ambient lighting control module and says it matches vehicles with factory ambient lighting. Other chassis numbers printed on that label are not a verified fitment list for this tutorial. The image does not identify which individual cover, module or harness belongs to each door.

Installation video and navigation

English installation video

The archived source is installation reference WX-0045, linked to this exact tutorial and video. Use these approximate positions to locate the demonstrated actions:

  1. 00:06–00:13 — Kit and tools. The source tool card lists a flat-blade screwdriver, T30 driver, plastic trim tool and wiring-harness tape.
  2. 00:13–00:53 — Door panel removal. Screw removal, releasing the panel, handle attachment and rear connections.
  3. 00:53–01:23 — Cover replacement. Accessing the original plastic fastening points and securing the replacement cover with the supplied screws.
  4. 01:23–02:23 — Kit module and harness connections. Cover extension cable, unused branch, module 4P/5P connections and closing the kit module case.
  5. 02:23–end — Factory lamp connection and securing the wiring. The specific door-panel lamp shown in the video, restoring the original lamp connection and securing the module.

The current English video requires correction. Its subtitles repeat “Work provided by the subtitles” through most of the installation, omitting the actual instructions. Near the end, “we release a code” does not match the original on-screen instruction that the cover connection is complete. The original supplies no verified coding procedure. The written steps below restore the source-backed actions; the current narration and subtitles have not passed a complete listening review.

Demonstrated installation steps

The sequence below applies to the panel and kit shown in the source. Exact electrical isolation, pin assignments, fastening specifications and differences between doors or vehicle configurations still require the corresponding technical instructions.

  1. Remove the demonstrated panel screws — 00:13–00:25. Use the T30 driver. The video removes two screws from the handle/armrest area and another screw inside the door storage-pocket area. This is the demonstrated arrangement, not a universal screw count for all referenced vehicles.

  2. Release the door panel and its connections — 00:25–00:53. Position the plastic trim tool at the shown edge and pull the panel outward to release it. The source then lowers one side slightly, lifts the handle attachment and disconnects the rear plugs. The exact latch and handle-release details are not fully visible; do not infer another door's release mechanism from this demonstration.

  3. Access the back of the original cover — 00:53–00:58. Put the removed panel rear side up. Move the shown insulating liner aside sufficiently to expose the cover's fastening area.

  4. Remove the original plastic fastening points — 00:58–01:12. The source identifies the black retaining points around the original cover and instructs removing them with cutting pliers or a grinding tool. It subsequently refers to these as original weld points. This involves cutting/removing plastic retention material; it is not simply unplugging an accessory. The source does not provide an exact cut diagram or an approved restoration method.

  5. Fit and secure the replacement cover — 01:07–01:23. Place the illuminated cover in the original opening. Use the supplied screws at the corresponding shown mounting positions. Screw length, required quantity and tightening torque are not specified in the source.

  6. Identify the kit module and two harness groups — 01:23–01:35. The demonstrator shows a module, an adapter harness with two black connector ends and a 5P branch, and a cover extension cable. Keep these roles distinct; a connector label does not establish its electrical pinout.

  7. Connect the cover extension cable — 01:35–01:46. Connect the shown extension-cable end to the cover lighting connection. The source wraps the unused branch of this kit cable with tape and leaves it unused. This instruction concerns the demonstrated kit branch; it does not permit leaving any original factory ambient lighting plug disconnected.

  8. Open the supplied lighting module case — 01:46–01:56. The video opens the black kit module case to access its board and connections. This is the accessory module shown, not a factory vehicle control unit. A different module revision may require a different approved procedure.

  9. Connect the cover lighting lead to the module's 4P connection — 01:56–02:06. The source explicitly identifies the module's 4P and 5P connections. It connects the cover lighting lead to 4P, wraps the remaining unused kit branch, and states that the cover and module are now connected.

  10. Connect the black adapter harness to 5P — 02:06–02:23. Connect the black adapter harness's 5P branch to the corresponding module connection. Return the board to its case, close the cover and choose a suitable place to secure the module as demonstrated. The source supplies no pin-level wiring diagram or authorization to modify the board.

  11. Insert the adapter at the demonstrated factory lamp — 02:23–02:50. Locate the specific lamp shown on the inner side of the door panel. Disconnect its original plug, insert the demonstrated adapter connection and reconnect the original lamp through the adapter. The video repeatedly points out this lamp location. It does not identify a universal lamp connector, a numbered factory connector or an interchangeable footwell connection.

  12. Secure the wiring and prepare to refit — 02:50–end. Secure the wiring and module. The source states that the illuminated cover connection is complete and mentions putting the assembly back. Reconnect all original factory ambient lighting connectors. The footage ends without a complete panel-refitting sequence or a recorded final lighting test; those acceptance checks remain to be documented.

Troubleshooting from the original article

These are the source's conditional troubleshooting branches. Electrical test limits and vehicle-specific diagnostic procedures are not supplied.

  1. The illuminated cover does not light after installation. Check that the door connector is fully seated and reconnect it if needed. Adjust the ambient lighting interface, then lock the vehicle and let it sleep for 10 minutes before checking. The source does not give a precise menu path or a coding/reset procedure.

  2. The illuminated cover remains off. Restore every original factory ambient lighting connection. The source explains that leaving a factory lighting connection open prevents the cover from reading the signal and operating. This explanation is a source claim, not an independently verified circuit diagram.

  3. An individual door's cover is off. The source suggests exchanging the cover light sources and/or plug-in adapter harnesses to isolate the fault. Replace a light source or harness only if the fault is established. Compatibility and controlled test conditions for swapping parts are not detailed.

  4. An individual door's cover is dim. Check whether its light source has come loose. Secure the lighting connector again if needed.

  5. The light source illuminates but its color does not change. The source suggests exchanging light sources to check their operation and replacing a failed light source if necessary.

  6. All ambient lighting in that door is off, including the factory lighting. Check whether a door-panel installation screw has pinched the wiring harness.

  7. These checks do not resolve the fault. Ask your sales representative to contact a technician for support. Provide the exact vehicle, kit revision, affected door and observed symptom.

Completion evidence still required

The original article contains an empty effect-demonstration section, and the video does not show a completed refit or verified lighting result. Final evidence must establish secure mounting and wiring clearance, restored factory functions and lighting operation on the exact vehicle and kit. The product image's 64-color description is not a recorded operating test. Image labels, video translation and complete source/current sound-and-picture review also remain open before upload acceptance.
