Scope and source check

This archived tutorial is titled for the GLA156 illuminated rear air vent assembly. Its product image states 2013–2019 Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class, with W156 printed on the image. These are source descriptions; exact vehicle, console and kit compatibility still require confirmation.

The work-process link attached to this same archive leads to a CLA117 demonstration. The source video introduction identifies the CLA-Class W117, and the existing English video also says “older CLA117.” This vehicle difference remains unresolved. The linked video is retained for reference, but its console removal, duct modification and wiring must not be treated as a verified GLA156 installation procedure.

Product image and parts

GLA156 rear air vent assembly and the four labeled parts

The numbered items in this tutorial's own GLA image are:

  1. 01 — Rear air vent assembly: the rear console panel with two illuminated vents.
  2. 02 — Air-sealing pads: the two rectangular pads shown beside the panel.
  3. 03 — Rear air vent duct: the branching duct shown in the image.
  4. 04 — Rear vent light harness: the supplied harness shown at the bottom.

Use these numbers for this image. The CLA video introduction numbers its duct and sealing pads differently. The physical harness tag still contains small Chinese text in the current image; this tag has not been fully localized or independently identified.

Existing linked video

English video — source-linked CLA117 demonstration; GLA156 applicability unconfirmed

The following is a viewing guide to the existing demonstration. It describes its content rather than authorizing the same work on a GLA156.

  1. 00:00–00:14 — Introduction. The video identifies the CLA117 and shows the rear vent panel, duct, sealing material and lighting harness. Its screen/app color-control claims belong to that source demonstration and have not been confirmed for this GLA kit.
  2. 00:14–01:34 — Center console removal. The demonstration opens the armrest, removes the upper trim and connectors, accesses the console fasteners, removes the rear panel and lifts out the console. The English captions mention a 10 mm socket, T20 screws and rear Phillips screws. Fastener sizes, release directions and the removal sequence remain unverified for the GLA156.
  3. 01:34–02:21 — Duct opening and duct fitting. The demonstration identifies a reserved duct opening, shows a rotary tool, and fits a branching duct under the console. It does not provide a verified cutting template or GLA-specific dimensions. Obtain the correct vehicle and kit procedure before considering this modification.
  4. 02:21–03:01 — Rear panel preparation. The demonstrated process transfers the cigarette-lighter socket into the replacement rear panel, including the lower retaining slots. Retaining details and electrical isolation still need confirmation for the actual vehicle.
  5. 03:01–03:19 — Sealing material. The demonstration applies supplied material over the console's side openings. The required openings, sealing coverage and airflow outcome have not been verified for the GLA156.
  6. 03:19–04:05 — Harness routing and console refitting. The demonstration passes the light harness through the console and aligns the vent openings during refitting. The sampled frames do not establish a complete clip, cable-clearance or connector check.
  7. 04:05–04:27 — Front connection reference. The ending routes the harness toward the front footwell and shows adapter ends described as connecting to a module and front air vent. This is not a terminal map: supply, polarity, connector identity and module version are still unconfirmed.

Result and troubleshooting

The archived result-display and troubleshooting sections contain headings only. No GLA-specific lighting test, airflow result or fault-resolution procedure is supplied by those sections. They cannot establish a successful installation or provide a coding procedure.

Review required before upload

Confirm why this GLA archive links to the CLA117 procedure and obtain a GLA-specific installation source or documented approval of the shared procedure. Confirm vehicle years/configuration, console and duct variants, harness/module identity, electrical isolation and connections, and any coding requirements. Retain the original image and video while their remaining Chinese labels and terminology are reviewed. The full source/current videos and audio still require continuous review; the saved still-frame samples do not constitute complete playback, listening or technical acceptance.
