This guide follows the archived W223 front and rear illuminated air-vent kit, its three illustrated sheets and its own installation video. The product sheet states 2021–2024 Mercedes-Benz S-Class W223. That is the source's application statement; the exact kit revision, vehicle configuration and market still need to be matched before installation.

The illustrated sheets contain the dashboard access, light-guide mounting and harness routing details. The video mainly demonstrates work on removed vent assemblies and a side vent at the dashboard. Its current English captions are incomplete and include unrelated text, so use the written image-based sequence below alongside the pictures. It does not establish a complete electrical or vehicle service procedure.

1. Identify the illustrated kit

The original product sheet numbers the parts as follows:

  1. 01 — Front center illuminated vent.
  2. 02 — Front left and right illuminated vents.
  3. 03 — Rear illuminated vent.
  4. 04 — Power adapter harness with control module.
  5. 05 — Rear vent light connection harness.
  6. 06 — Front vent light connection harness.

The mounting pictures also show the supplied light-guide plates and washers. Keep the left and right pieces distinct. A visible connector or wire color is not a pin assignment.

2. Front dashboard access shown in the first installation sheet

The following sequence translates the source captions. Screw sizes and quantities apply to the pictured locations, rather than every fastener on the vehicle.

  1. Pry up the center-console armrest-box switch trim. Remove the air-conditioning button panel, then remove the T20 screws marked by the red circles. The source marks several positions; this is not an instruction to remove only one screw.
  2. Lift the screen bracket and disconnect its rear ambient-light connection. Lift the screen upward and pull it backward as pictured, then disconnect the cables behind the screen.
  3. Remove the decorative cover behind the instrument cluster and the two T25 screws behind it.
  4. Lift the upper decorative cover and remove the left and right brackets. Open the small cover in the trim and remove the pictured T20 screw.
  5. Open the side cover and remove the two T20 screws shown there. Lift the trim upward and disconnect its rear cable. The sheet then shows the complete long trim panel being lifted and removed after its cables are disconnected.
  6. Open the center cover above the center vent. The source identifies a barbed retaining hook in the middle of the cover that must be pressed inward to release the cover.
  7. Loosen the center vent outward slightly. The separately circled retaining hook must be lifted upward to release the vent, then its rear cable is disconnected. These are two different release actions; pulling harder is not a substitute for releasing the hook.

The bottom of this sheet starts rear access: open the small cover at the back of the center armrest and remove the one T20 screw inside. The next sheet shows the rear vent assembly being pulled outward.

3. Light guides, washers and vent reassembly

Side vents

  1. The mounting sheet shows a vent housing with three T20 screws. Keep this housing operation separate from the single rear-access screw described above; the next mounting photographs show the left/right vent pieces.
  2. Fit the appropriate light-guide plate, distinguishing left from right.
  3. Place the supplied washers at the screw holes as pictured. The source shows multiple washers; it does not describe one washer for the entire kit.
  4. The right-side vent is installed in the same way as the pictured left-side vent.

Center vent

  1. The source shows the chrome trim being removed from the center vent.
  2. Its photographs mark raised plastic surfaces and show them being trimmed flat before the chrome trim is clipped back onto its corresponding clips. This is a physical trimming operation. The source does not give cut depths, dimensions or a complete boundary for material removal. Confirm the exact kit and marked areas before cutting; this guide does not authorize cutting every projection or retaining feature.
  3. The center-vent lead exits at the lower-right corner in the illustrated assembly.

Rear vent

The rear light-guide plate is positioned at the screw posts. The original caption also says to use the supplied washers here, a detail missing from the current English image caption. This washer instruction applies to the rear mounting as well as the earlier side-vent mounting.

4. Harness route shown in the second installation sheet

  1. The schematic shows the front leads routed across the dashboard toward the control-module area on the vehicle's right side. The center-vent lead passes through the central opening shown in the following photograph.
  2. The source identifies the control module's adapter connection as the right-front footwell light connection. It does not identify connector numbers, pin positions, voltage, current limits or an alternative connection for another vehicle layout.
  3. The rear-vent lead is routed along the side gap/seam of the center console and concealed as pictured.

Use the exact supplied harness information to verify the connection before energizing it. The illustrated route alone does not specify electrical isolation, clearance at every refitted panel or the correct connection for a different configuration.

5. Installation video reference

The retained video is linked below. These are approximate navigation points based on matching source and English frames; they are observations rather than a complete timed service procedure:

  1. 00:08–00:40: removed front center vent and its chrome trim are demonstrated on a work surface.
  2. 01:05: the removed center-vent assembly is shown again. The current English caption ends mid-sentence and does not explain the operation completely.
  3. 01:30–01:41: a side-vent light-guide/trim piece is aligned with the housing and the side vent is fitted back into its bracket. The English instruction to “plug it in up here” does not establish an electrical connection at this point.
  4. 01:58–02:43: the rear console vent assembly and its rear mounting/trim are demonstrated.
  5. 03:22: the left dashboard vent is handled at the exposed dashboard mounting area.

The current subtitle file has only six English cues, ending at 01:51.6 in a video of approximately 03:30.7. Its opening “Lyrics, composition” and “Okay, let's go” captions do not explain the visible vent work. Complete source listening, translation and timing correction remain necessary; do not treat those captions as installation instructions.

6. Appearance and unresolved service details

The last illustrated sheet includes a photograph of illuminated front and rear vents. This documents the pictured appearance, rather than a test of every color, brightness setting, HVAC function or vehicle configuration.

The archived troubleshooting chapter contains no fault diagnosis. There is no source-supported reset, coding procedure or pin-level repair to add. For an unclear step or fault, record the vehicle year/configuration, supplied kit/module identification, the affected front-center/front-side/rear vent and the relevant picture or video time. Electrical checks and any repair require the exact kit instructions and applicable vehicle service information.
