This guide describes replacement rotating tweeters for Mercedes-Benz C-Class W206 with factory ambient lighting. The kit photo is labelled 2022–2024. Confirm the vehicle, speaker system, kit and module revision before installation.

The illustrated replacement retains the window/door-frame trim and uses adapter connections. The introductory installation information describes installation without programming or addressing, but its troubleshooting also calls for ambient-light relearning/addressing when single-color operation is abnormal. Confirm the requirement for the actual vehicle and kit.

The product photo shows a 4D drive-module arrangement, while the installation photos show separate motor and lighting modules. Confirm which arrangement belongs to the supplied kit before connecting; the photos do not establish that these revisions use the same harness.

2.1 Front door panels

The sequence shows removal of two T30 door-panel screws, release of the clips and upper edge, the outer locating clip, the inner-handle cable retainer and the factory door-module connector. Confirm the vehicle's electrical isolation and panel refitting procedure before work.

2.2 Tweeter replacement

The illustration shows releasing the window-frame trim from its locating slots, releasing the tweeter retaining clips and unplugging the factory tweeter. Fit the replacement into the original trim, route its wires through the illustrated opening, reconnect the factory tweeter audio plug and refit the trim without trapping wires. “Rotating tweeter” names the part; the routing step does not instruct you to rotate it manually to hide a hole.

2.3 Wiring and checks

The illustrated adapter connects at the factory door module's blue connector No. 12. This means connector No. 12, not electrical pin/terminal 12. Confirm the connector designation on the actual vehicle.

For the separate-module arrangement shown in this illustration, the lighting module is labelled with a three-wire input and four-wire output, and the motor connection is a five-position small plug. These descriptions apply to the pictured modules; do not apply them to a different 4D drive-module revision without its connection definitions.

Match the motor, lighting and audio plugs to their actual labels. Check motor, light and speaker operation before refitting. Secure the modules and harness in the illustrated location only after confirming clearance and the correct revision, then refit the door panel and check the factory door functions.

3. Functions

Installed rotating tweeter

  • Motor: the installation description associates ignition on with extension/rotation outward and ignition off with retraction. Confirm this behavior on the actual module.
  • Speaker: the tweeter plays audio through the vehicle's tweeter connection.
  • Lighting: the installed lighting follows the supported factory ambient-light functions, including illumination on unlocking and switch-off after locking.

4. Troubleshooting

  1. If the assembly has no function, check the adapter at blue connector No. 12, bent or damaged adapter terminals, correct connections for the installed module arrangement and fully seated tweeter plugs.
  2. If only the motor fails, compare left/right wiring and connector seating. The installation information suggests comparison using exchanged motor leads, modules or tweeters. Have the installer confirm component compatibility and the correct disconnection procedure before substituting parts; isolate the fault in the lead, module or motor before replacement.
  3. If the tweeter has no audio, check its audio plug and the factory tweeter circuit. Compare the two sides using compatible components if appropriate. The installation description also mentions a midrange-speaker connection test without defining compatible connections; obtain the correct test procedure rather than connecting a midrange plug to the tweeter by assumption.
  4. If the lighting fails, compare the two sides and check the lighting-module wiring and plugs. Use only confirmed compatible modules or tweeters for substitution tests, and establish whether the fault is in the connection, module or LED assembly.
  5. If a factory door function is abnormal, check the installation and restore the correct connector seating. The installation information then calls for locking the vehicle and allowing approximately 10 minutes for sleep. Confirm the vehicle-specific procedure if the fault remains.
  6. If factory multicolor operation works but single-color operation is abnormal, the installation information suggests voice-controlled color changes, relearning/matching or diagnostic addressing. Have the installer confirm the correct procedure for the actual lighting system; no addressing values or complete diagnostic procedure are supplied here.

The final image is intended to illustrate the single-color setting. Confirm the actual menu and displayed color value on the vehicle before performing any relearning procedure.
