This guide covers 2020–2024 Mercedes-Benz GLB 247 vehicles with factory or retrofitted ambient lighting. Use the kit version matched to the vehicle's lighting system. The illustrated connections use supplied speaker and lighting adapters.
1. Parts overview
Figure 1. Rotating tweeter kit and adapter harnesses.
2. Installation and connections
The factory-lighting connection shown uses door-module connector No. 6. The retrofit-lighting version connects into the added ambient-light harness and is driven by that system's module. The source does not provide a connector cavity map or a compatibility list for retrofit controllers; confirm the supplied harness and controller version before connecting it.
The sixth panel shows removal of a locating tab on the existing speaker connector. Confirm the exact connector and intended tab with the kit supplier before changing it. The source does not show a tab-release method or a reversible replacement procedure. Do not remove an electrical terminal or a different locking feature based on this photograph.
Figure 2. Installation and wiring sequence. Read the panels from top to bottom:
- Remove the trim cover and secure the rotating tweeter with its retaining clip.
- Press straight inward, horizontally, to seat the rotating tweeter.
- Connect the added module and door-speaker plugs to their corresponding connectors.
- Connect the tweeter adapter at factory door-module connector No. 6, as pictured.
- Unplug the existing door-speaker connector.
- The source shows removal of the speaker connector's locating tab; resolve the connector and tab details described above before this step.
- Connect the speaker adapter as pictured.
- Complete the rotating-tweeter wiring connections as shown.
- Secure the wiring, connectors and added module, then refit the removed trim.
The source does not specify the vehicle power-isolation procedure. Obtain the procedure for the vehicle and supplied kit before disconnecting connectors or exchanging components. The comparison checks below require matching kit versions; do not exchange connected or powered modules.
3. Troubleshooting
- The factory door speaker has no sound: check that the speaker adapter plugs are secure and inspect the terminals. Restore the original speaker connection to check whether factory operation returns.
- The added rotating tweeter has no sound: check the speaker adapter connections and terminals, and check whether the factory door speaker is also silent. If only one added tweeter is affected, compare the matching left/right adapters and tweeters to determine whether the fault follows the wiring or the speaker, using the kit's confirmed disconnection procedure.
- The tweeter rotates in the wrong direction when the ignition is switched on or off: if one motor operates in reverse, compare the matching tweeters or motor modules between sides, using the confirmed disconnection procedure. Check the wiring terminals.
- The tweeter light is off with factory ambient lighting: inspect the adapter connections and terminals. Confirm that the product version matches factory ambient lighting, check whether the factory door ambient light is also affected, and confirm that ambient-light brightness is enabled.
- The tweeter light is off with retrofitted ambient lighting: inspect the connections and terminals. Confirm that the product version matches the retrofitted system and check whether that door's added ambient light is also affected. The tweeter lighting harness connects into the added ambient-light wiring and is driven by its module.
- Some colors differ with factory ambient lighting: switch to the single-color menu and compare red, blue and green.
- Some colors differ with retrofitted ambient lighting: inspect the adapter terminals for bending or deformation, then compare red, blue and green in the single-color menu.
