Confirm the panel and kit version for your Mercedes-Benz GLB 247 before installation. The written installation information lists 2020–2024, while the parts image lists 2020–2022; confirm fitment for the actual model year and trim, especially 2023–2024, before using these illustrations. Two control versions are available: a version that follows factory or retrofitted ambient lighting through the vehicle controls, and an independent music-rhythm version controlled through a phone app.

1. Identify the kit and connection type

  • Factory ambient lighting: connect the supplied module at the right-front footwell light connector.

  • Retrofitted ambient lighting: connect the supplied adapter harness into the added ambient-light wiring.

  • Music-rhythm version: use an independent ACC power supply and chassis ground. This version operates separately from the ambient-light harness.

Check that the supplied kit matches the vehicle and the control version above. The different year labels alone do not confirm that the same panel and connections fit every year.

The kit contains a replacement starlight panel, a control module and a panel-to-module cable. An audio cable is supplied only with the music-rhythm version. Leave that audio cable disconnected: this version uses the microphone built into its module. The ambient-light version does not include the audio cable.

2. Installation

2.1 Remove the original dashboard panel

The ACC and ground route at the top of Figure 2 is for the independent music-rhythm version. The ambient-light versions use the matching ambient-light connection in Section 1. Confirm the vehicle-specific removal and connector procedure before disconnecting the display or working behind the dashboard.

2.2 Fit the starlight panel and route the wiring

The ACC fuse-box connection in Figure 3 applies only to the independent music-rhythm version. Use the matching ambient-light connection in Section 1 for either ambient-light version. The circled fuse-box location and ground bolt are examples from the illustrated vehicle. This guide does not identify a fuse number, fuse rating, power-tap specification or vehicle-wide ACC connection. Have a qualified installer confirm a suitable switched ACC supply, circuit protection and ground for the vehicle and module before connecting power. Do not select a fuse position solely by matching the photograph.

3. Troubleshooting

3.1 Factory ambient-light version

  • The panel is off: check that the right-front footwell light is producing the ambient-light signal. Inspect the adapter for bent terminals and check the wiring for an open or short circuit.

  • Colors are not synchronized: with the ignition on, close all doors and adjust the ambient-light color.

3.2 Retrofitted ambient-light version

  • The panel is off: check the adapter connection in the added ambient-light harness for loose or disconnected plugs, bent terminals, and open or short circuits.

  • Colors are not synchronized: test red, blue and green separately. If a basic color is missing, inspect its corresponding wire and adapter terminal for bending or an open circuit. If continuity is present all the way to the LED connector, inspect the starlight-panel LED unit; if continuity is missing, investigate the wiring. Confirm the fault before replacing parts.

3.3 Independent music-rhythm version

  • The panel stays on: check whether the power lead was connected to a constant-power fuse position.

  • The panel is off: confirm the ignition is on and that the power lead is connected to ACC. Check for a loose ground and for an open or short circuit at the module input.

  • Music mode does not work correctly: select music control in the phone app. If the audio cable is plugged into the module, unplug it. Otherwise, play music on the phone near the module. If it responds normally there, change the module placement; if it still does not respond, the built-in microphone may be faulty.

4. Function controls

Ambient-light version: the starlight panel follows the vehicle's ambient-light functions.

Music-rhythm version: use the phone app to switch between music-responsive and non-music-responsive effects. Detailed function instructions are available in the app settings.
