The source guide covers model-year 2022–2024 Mercedes-Benz C-Class 206 vehicles. The kit comprises replacement door-handle assemblies, sensing antennas, a wiring set and a KG keyless-entry module. Confirm the kit version and the vehicle's equipment before using the illustrated wiring references.
The source describes touch locking/unlocking and a smart trunk function, with the vehicle's existing lock/unlock notifications, automatic mirror folding and touch-and-hold window/sunroof functions retained. The illustrated procedure concentrates on door handles, antennas and the KG module. It does not identify the trunk-function hardware or provide its installation procedure; confirm the supplied kit's trunk-function requirements separately. Available factory functions also depend on the vehicle's equipment and settings.
1. Wiring overview and preparation
The overview shows four door-handle connections, left and right sensing antennas and the KG module. Left/right and front/rear in the detailed diagram refer to vehicle positions. The door-module plug numbers shown in later photographs identify plugs; they are not KG pin numbers or door-to-body connector cavities.
Before disconnecting the door-panel or factory door-module plugs, move the window glass to the removal position shown in the photographs. The glass must be removed and refitted during this work.
The source gives two possible antenna routes: installation in the doors using the appropriate harness terminals, or concealed installation on the interior floor beneath the carpet. Access to the floor route involves moving/removing the seats, lifting the carpet and routing the harness through the door-to-body wiring grommet. This is an interior route; it is not an instruction to mount the antennas outside the vehicle beneath the floor. The source does not supply exact antenna mounting positions or a seat/restraint service procedure. Obtain the relevant kit and vehicle instructions before that work.
After the replacement KG module is connected, the source requires ignition activation and programming. If the vehicle must be moved before activation, its instruction is to retain/reconnect the factory module for that move, then fit and activate the replacement module at the work location. Use the appropriate vehicle-specific, authorized programming procedure; the key photograph later in this guide is not a programming procedure.
The following lists transcribe the source photographs so that the illustrated actions can be read alongside each image. They do not replace the vehicle's instructions for electrical isolation, glass support, door sealing, fastener tightening or reassembly.
2. Door panel and window glass
The first photograph sequence shows:
- Remove the two door-panel retaining screws with a T30 driver.
- Use a plastic trim tool to release the panel clips from the bottom edge.
- Pull the upper part of the panel outward horizontally to release it.
- Move the panel outward parallel to the door to release the large outer locating clip.
- Release the interior door-handle cable holder.
- Remove the rubber access covers shown for the window retainers.
- Align the glass retainers with the access openings and release them. Set the glass height before disconnecting the relevant powered-window connections.
- Disconnect the factory door-module plugs identified in this photograph as blue No. 12 and white No. 13.
- Press the two glass locating clips inward and lift out the glass, supporting it during removal.
3. Handle and inner door carrier
The next sequence illustrates removal of the original handle and the inner carrier:
- Use a plastic trim tool to release the handle's limiting sleeve.
- Slide the handle parallel to the door to release and remove it.
- Remove the access plug at the door end and loosen the mechanical lock-cylinder retaining screw with a T20 driver.
- Remove the original mechanical lock cylinder to allow the illustrated handle work.
- Remove the two handle-positioning screws with a T20 driver.
- Remove the three door-lock mechanism retaining screws with a T30 driver.
- Dismantle the door-to-body connector as illustrated to access the positions for the additional wires.
- Press the connector's locating tab as shown to release it.
- Withdraw the rubber grommet with the factory door harness and dismantle the connector for the added wiring.
- Remove the perimeter screws of the inner door carrier with a T20 driver. The source notes that the circled position by the speaker can remain in place.
The mechanical lock-cylinder photographs show the illustrated lock-equipped handle. They do not establish that every front or rear door has the same cylinder or removal sequence. The door-lock mechanism and the KG module are separate components.
4. Replacement handle components and door wiring
This sequence shows the carrier removed for handle-component replacement and harness routing:
- Disconnect the factory door-module plugs shown here as black No. 3 and white No. 4. These are different plug references from blue No. 12 and white No. 13 in the earlier sequence; do not substitute one set for the other.
- Slide the inner carrier out as illustrated.
- Release the locking pin of the handle locating clip.
- Fit the replacement handle locating clip.
- Route the handle connector beside the rubber grommet for the original door-lock harness.
- Follow the marked route for the handle harness in the two routing photographs.
- Pass the handle connector through the opening in the locating clip.
- Route the added harness with male terminals along the factory door harness to the door-to-body connector.
- Withdraw the purple secondary lock from the side of the connector and insert the male terminals into the specified vacant positions.
The photographs call these positions vacant but do not supply their cavity numbers or a matching door/body cavity map. Confirm the exact connector identity, mating cavities and terminal locking instructions for this kit before inserting terminals. Do not choose a cavity simply because it is empty.
5. Interior harness route and floor access
The interior sequence shows:
- Remove the sill trim shown in the first photograph.
- Add the female terminals at the specified vacant body-side connector positions.
- Route the female-terminal harness along the factory body harness.
- Release the connector carrier's secondary lock from the side to insert the female terminals.
- Remove the passenger-side sill trim.
- Remove the two plastic fasteners securing the lower glovebox panel.
- Disconnect that panel's plugs and remove the panel.
- Lift the factory carpet and remove the floor locating cover shown.
- Use a 10 mm socket to remove the three nuts securing the illustrated locating cover.
The passenger-side references identify the illustrated interior work. They do not define a universal driver/passenger-side mapping for every vehicle configuration. The female terminals must match the confirmed male-terminal cavities and circuits described above.
6. KG module pin reference
The source's four-door KG diagram gives the following twelve connections. Pin 1 and pin 2 in the first two columns refer to the handle or antenna lead; they do not mean KG pins 1 and 2. The source identifies a single-color lead as component pin 1 and a two-color lead as component pin 2.
| Component | Component lead | KG connector pin in the source diagram |
|---|---|---|
| Left-front handle | Pin 1 | 26 |
| Left-front handle | Pin 2 | 29 |
| Right-front handle | Pin 1 | 25 |
| Right-front handle | Pin 2 | 30 |
| Left-rear handle | Pin 1 | 23 |
| Left-rear handle | Pin 2 | 31 |
| Right-rear handle | Pin 1 | 24 |
| Right-rear handle | Pin 2 | 32 |
| Left antenna | Pin 1 | 49 |
| Left antenna | Pin 2 | 50 |
| Right antenna | Pin 1 | 51 |
| Right antenna | Pin 2 | 52 |
The diagram labels its rows 18–1, 36–19 and 54–37. It does not state whether the drawing is viewed from the wire side or the mating face, or identify all compatible module/connector versions. Confirm the actual connector's numbering and orientation against the correct kit documentation before terminal insertion. This table does not fill the missing door-to-body cavity map.
7. KG module access, connection and reassembly
The source photographs illustrate:
- Expose the KG module in the floor area shown.
- Release the two upper retaining clips and withdraw the module.
- Disconnect the black plug and slide its terminal carrier out from the side.
- Open the carrier further to access the added handle and antenna terminals.
- Connect the handle leads and antenna leads using the confirmed connector view and the source's KG reference above.
- Leave the external handle connector accessible for the replacement handle.
- Seat the handle fully and refit the mechanical lock cylinder where fitted.
- Refit the limiting plastic clip.
- Remove the inner window weatherstrip as illustrated before refitting the glass.
The source includes separate close-ups of the handle and antenna terminal positions. It does not give a complete refitting checklist, tightening values, glass initialization procedure or verification of the door water seal. Follow the applicable vehicle service instructions to finish reassembly and confirm the glass, door latch and all disconnected equipment work correctly.
8. Activation and function checks
The source repeats that the new module must be activated/programmed after replacement. It advises using the factory module if the vehicle needs to be moved before the new module is activated. The photograph is captioned as ignition activation/programming and keyless-entry testing; it provides no software procedure, coding values or activation requirements.
Arrange the correct authorized activation/programming for the exact vehicle and kit. Check touch locking/unlocking at the installed handles and check the retained factory functions against the vehicle's actual equipment and settings. Verify any claimed trunk function against its separate kit instructions.
9. Troubleshooting
The engine will not start after KG replacement: check whether the required ignition activation has been completed. The source does not provide an alternative starting or security-bypass procedure.
Keyless entry does not work: check whether programming followed ignition activation and whether the required replacement handle assemblies were installed. If those items are correct, inspect for disconnected handle plugs, incorrect door-to-body terminal positions, incorrect KG terminal positions, wires pulled open and wiring pinched into a short circuit. Use the confirmed circuit references for these checks.
Door function buttons do not work: check that all disconnected factory plugs have been fully reconnected and that none was omitted.
A previously available lock/unlock function is missing: check whether it is disabled in the vehicle settings. The source vehicle's Vehicle > Open/Close screen illustrates automatic door locking, audible central-locking confirmation and automatic mirror folding. Check the vehicle's owner's manual for the available settings and their operation. The photographed menu is a settings reference, not KG programming.
