Applicability and kit
The source tutorial covers model years 2022–2024 of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class 206 and GLC 254. It describes replacement metal midrange speaker grilles for both higher and lower equipment specifications. The product photograph is labelled specifically for the 2022–2024 C-Class W206; confirm the exact kit and vehicle configuration before using the illustrated installation for a GLC 254.
The source describes a factory-protocol lighting kit with plug-in electrical adapters, single-color and multicolor operation, a breathing effect and voice-synchronized color changes, without programming for the matched configuration. These are source product descriptions; the photographs do not demonstrate the dynamic functions or confirm every vehicle configuration. The electrical adapters do not make grille removal reversible: the illustrated procedure removes the original grille's welded mounting points and calls for securing the replacement by re-welding.
The numbered product groups in Figure 1 are:
| Number | Component shown |
|---|---|
| 01 | Four illuminated midrange speaker grilles. |
| 02 | Four grille extension leads. |
| 03 | Four ambient-lighting modules. The photographed labels read “206 254 214 223”, “LIN”, “YC”, “CKCP V1.2” and “2024/06/15”. These labels do not expand this tutorial's vehicle coverage. |
| 04 | Mounting screws and washers in a bag. The source does not specify their thread size, length, quantity or tightening torque. |
| 05 | Four grille adapter leads. |
Illustrated installation sequence
Figure 2 shows the following sequence. The connector references apply to the photographed example; confirm the matching parts and the vehicle-specific removal and fastening procedure before carrying out the work.
- Front door trim: remove the two door-panel screws specified as T30 in the source. The red circles identify the screw locations; the red arrows mark the points where force is applied. The source describes horizontal rearward removal of the panel. The photograph does not establish the release direction, clip sequence or electrical-disconnection procedure for every C-Class 206 or GLC 254 door.
- Rear door trim: remove the two T30 door-panel screws identified in the rear-door photograph. The source again describes horizontal rearward panel removal at the marked points. Use the confirmed procedure for the particular door and trim version.
- Original grille mounting points: from the back of the removed door panel, identify the original speaker grille's circled welded mounting points. The source instructs their removal; it does not identify a removal tool, cutting depth or temperature.
- Replacement grille: replace the original grille with the illuminated grille and secure it. The source calls for re-welding the mounting points. Obtain the kit's exact approved fastening method before modifying them; the product photograph also includes mounting screws, but the source does not explain when those screws replace or supplement the welded fixings.
- Grille lighting connections: connect the supplied plug-in leads to the two lamp-head connections and the matching door-panel connectors shown in the photo. The circled white connections show the illustrated joining points. The source does not provide the complete extension-lead and lighting-module topology.
- Blue door-panel connector: the source identifies a connection to the large blue 10-pin door-panel plug. Match the adapter to the specified connector; the source does not give individual pin assignments.
- Door-control module connector: connect the matching adapter at the original door-control module connection labelled No. 12 in the source. “No. 12” is the connector position/reference shown beside the blue plug; it is not an instruction to connect a wire to terminal 12 and is not a stated contact count.
- Installed appearance: the final photographs show an orange-lit grille surround and the existing door ambient lighting. They document appearance, without showing the complete panel-refitting procedure or a functional test of color synchronization, breathing and voice-linked operation. Restore all original ambient-lighting connections and obtain the vehicle-specific refitting and final-check procedure before completing the installation.
Troubleshooting
- The grille does not light up: check that the door connectors are fully seated and reconnect them as needed. Adjust the ambient-lighting settings. The source then calls for locking the vehicle and allowing it to enter sleep mode for 10 minutes before checking the result.
- The grille still does not light up: restore every original factory ambient-lighting connector disturbed during installation. The source warns that a disconnected factory connection can prevent the new grille from receiving the required signal; it does not supply a circuit diagram or establish a universal wiring topology.
- Only one door's grille does not light up: the source suggests exchanging matching grille lamp heads or plug-in adapter leads to isolate the fault, then replacing the defective lamp head or lead if confirmed. Establish that the parts are interchangeable before swapping them.
- One door's grille looks unusually dim: check whether the lamp head has come loose and whether the lighting connector or fitting needs to be secured again.
- The lamp head lights up but does not change color: the source suggests checking its operation by exchanging a matching lamp head, then replacing it if defective.
- All ambient lighting on the affected door is off, including the original factory lighting: check whether a door-panel screw has trapped or pinched the wiring harness.
- The fault remains unresolved: ask your CKCP sales contact to arrange technical support. Provide the vehicle details, the affected door and clear photographs of the kit and connections.
