Application and installation configuration

The Chinese source lists 2022–2024 Mercedes-Benz C-Class 206 and GLC 254 vehicles that already have factory ambient lighting but have non-illuminated front air vents. This guide covers replacement front vent assemblies. The photographs show a C-Class W206 installation; they do not independently establish the installation details for every GLC 254 configuration.

The source describes this upgrade as requiring no programming. Confirm that this applies to the vehicle configuration and supplied module before installation. The source does not provide a connector pinout, power-supply specification, or a coding procedure.

For the source's CK-C200L example with factory ambient lighting, an added module at the right-front footwell-light location drives the illuminated front vents. The source describes integration with the factory ambient lighting; the exact supported functions must be confirmed for the installed vehicle and module.

Parts shown in Figure 1

The numbered references identify parts, not connector pins:

  • 01: Five front air-vent assemblies.
  • 02: Front vent lighting harness.
  • 03: Module adapter harness.
  • 04: Ambient-lighting module, shown as a required add-on when installing the vents by themselves. Its original label identifies a 206/254 LIN module (YD) for a vehicle with factory ambient lighting and an adapter connection at the right-front footwell light. This label does not specify wiring pins or power ratings.

Parts for the illustrated W206 illuminated front vent installation

Figure 1. Five front vent assemblies, the vent lighting harness, the module adapter harness, and the ambient-lighting module. The original parts sheet is headed “2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class W206.”

Installation sequence shown in Figure 2

  1. Identify the wiring configuration. The layout diagram places the added module at the right-front footwell-light location. The image caption distinguishes two arrangements: when the vents are installed by themselves, it shows connection at the right-front footwell light; when they are installed together with an ambient-lighting kit, it shows the vent lighting harness connected to the ambient-lighting harness. The caption mentions front and rear vents, but the parts set and replacement sequence in this tutorial show five front vents. It does not provide a rear-vent installation sequence.

  2. Remove the existing non-illuminated vents. The illustrated side vent is pulled straight out horizontally in the arrow direction. The caption states that this illustrated vent has no screws. Remove the five front vents shown in the source sequence.

  3. Keep the left and right side vents distinct. The two larger side vents are specific to the left and right sides. The three smaller center vents are the same size in the illustrated set.

  4. Replace the original vents with the illuminated assemblies. Match each replacement to its position. The close-up identifies the LED board location on the rear of the replacement vent; the colored wires in the photograph are not a pinout or a wire-function legend.

  5. Secure the LED board housing. Fit the housing that retains the LED board and make sure it is seated fully, as shown in the circled close-up.

  6. Reinforce the housing with tape. The following photograph shows tape over the housing to prevent it from coming loose. No tape type or specification is provided.

  7. Route the extension wiring. Use a stiff guide wire to assist with routing the vent LED extension wiring through the dashboard, as shown in the final photograph. The source does not show every access or trim-removal step, nor does it provide a complete connector diagram.

Checks before refitting the trim

Check that the installed wiring does not block the vent vanes and that each vane can move and close. Check that the vent lights illuminate and respond to the vehicle's ambient-lighting controls. If the colors differ or the vents do not illuminate, follow the troubleshooting distinctions below and obtain technical support if the cause remains unclear.

Troubleshooting

  1. One vent shows a different color. Check whether its light-head connection is loose and unplug and reconnect the plug. The source suggests exchanging matching light heads and plug positions to isolate the faulty part. Confirm that the parts can be interchanged and identify the actual fault before replacing the light head.

  2. All front vent colors differ from the system's single-color menu. Check whether a pin in the main-harness connection has come out of position. Unplug and reconnect the connection; replace the connecting harness if necessary. The source provides no terminal-repair or repinning instructions.

  3. None of the front vents illuminate. Check whether the main-harness route is crushed or damaged and may have caused a short circuit. Check that the module and vehicle connector wiring are seated correctly. Replace a damaged main harness or module if necessary after identifying the faulty part.

  4. A vent vane cannot close. Check whether the installed wiring obstructs it. Remove and inspect the front vent vane installation; replace the affected illuminated front vent assembly if necessary.

  5. The problem remains. Contact your CKCP sales representative for technical support. Include the vehicle model, model year, and the relevant step or image number.

Help improve this guide: If you find an error or an unclear step, please leave a comment with the step or image number, vehicle model, and model year. The CKCP team will review the correction before publishing it.
