Vehicle and kit scope
The source guide describes a replacement-style keyless-entry kit for 2019–2024 Mercedes-Benz A-Class 177, CLA 118, B-Class 247, GLA 247 and GLB 247. Carry a valid vehicle key within the operating range: touching an equipped exterior handle's sensor area operates locking or unlocking without pressing a key button. The trunk function is checked separately below.
The source says no programming is needed to activate this kit, but its short-range troubleshooting section also refers to programming/coding. Confirm the supplied KG module and the applicable setup procedure before relying on either statement. The wiring image is headed “W177/W188/W247,” whereas the source title and text say CLA 118. That discrepancy does not establish another vehicle application.
1. Product components
The photograph shows an exterior handle, wiring and a module labelled “W177 KG control unit.” This label identifies the illustrated component and does not confirm every listed vehicle configuration.
2. Wiring overview
The original diagram labels the front-left and front-right handle connections, the KG module and ignition switch, and the rear-left and rear-right door positions. Its English version places some labels in notes below the diagram and omits the front-right door label. Use the original source layout for identification; no connector pin numbers, wire-cavity assignments or kit-specific electrical isolation procedure are supplied here. Confirm those details against the exact kit and vehicle before connecting it.
3. Installation overview
The source lists two operations: remove/refit the door trim panel and replace the exterior handle. It does not provide a complete written procedure or confirm how many handles are supplied. The video below is the source-bound installation reference. Obtain the vehicle-specific trim, connector and fastener instructions before work.
4. Function checks
- Lock the vehicle and carry its key with you. Touch the trunk switch to check whether the trunk opens; this does not mean inserting or touching the switch with the key itself.
- At a door fitted with a compatible sensor handle, touch its sensor area and check locking/unlocking without pressing a key button. Do not infer that doors without fitted sensor handles gain this function.
5. Troubleshooting
- Engine does not start after installation: Check whether an added or replacement KG module was installed. The source recommends comparing operation with the original arrangement restored. If normal operation returns, investigate the added KG module; if it does not, check the installation and wiring. If no KG module was installed, check the installation. The source does not provide the safe module removal or diagnostic procedure.
- Keyless entry does not work: Check triggering/operation, installation and component condition. Carry the active key and check whether a second vehicle key has been left inside. If the KG module was replaced, lock the vehicle with the key and test whether the trunk opens without pressing a key button. If it does not, check the replacement module and installation. Check that the applicable sensor handle was fitted, that connections are not open or shorted, and that handle and antenna wiring corresponds to the KG module. Component comparison requires the correct kit instructions rather than arbitrary module swapping.
- The key works only close to the antenna: The source asks for a programming/coding check and an antenna position without contact with metal. Resolve the setup requirement with the supplied module instructions; no coding parameters are given in this guide.
