Vehicle and kit scope

The source identifies the Mercedes-Benz E-Class 213, model years 2016–2023, and describes replacement door-handle assemblies with programming required to enable keyless entry. The vehicle key must be carried within the system's effective range. Touching an equipped handle's sensor area operates door locking or unlocking without pressing a key button; the trunk can also be opened using its switch while carrying the key.

The diagrams below include a shared W205/W253/W213 overview and two different KG connector diagrams. Their wire colors and connector orientations differ. They are not one combined pin assignment. The source does not identify which KG module or harness version each detailed diagram requires; confirm the exact kit and connector variant before using either pin map.

Wiring diagrams

Figure 2 shows the four door handles, rear-door antennas, matching male/female door terminals and KG module. Its shared chassis heading does not extend the scope of this E-Class tutorial to other vehicles.

Figure 2

Figure 3 is the four-door KG wiring diagram with red/black handle leads and black/brown antenna leads.

Figure 3

Figure 4 is a separate connector diagram with green/pink front-handle leads, black/purple rear-handle leads and red/blue antenna leads. It also includes the trunk antenna. Do not transfer these colors or terminal positions to the other diagram without the corresponding module and harness identification.

Installation sequence shown in the source

1. Remove the door panel

The illustrated door has two T30 panel screws. Release the trim clips with a plastic trim tool, pull the upper inner edge outward, release the large outer clip horizontally and release the inner handle-cable retainer. The image then shows disconnecting the midrange speaker and the blue door-module connectors numbered 5 and 6. These are connector numbers, not terminal numbers.

Figure 5

2. Replace the handle

The source shows a T20 handle-retaining screw, replacement of the original handle by the sensor-equipped assembly, and transfer of the original lock cylinder to the replacement assembly. Feed the handle lead through the opening, route it through the inner door and along the existing harness, and match the male/female terminals across the door connector. The exact unused cavity numbers are not specified in the installation photographs.

Figure 6

3. Install the antenna

The source shows the keyless-entry antenna, its door-side lead and body-side lead to the KG module. Secure the antenna and route its lead along the existing harness as illustrated. The troubleshooting text states that antenna placement must avoid contact with metal.

Figure 7

KG module location

The photograph identifies the KG module location in the illustrated vehicle. The source does not provide a module part number or a complete replacement procedure.

Programming

Programming/coding is required according to the source. Its programming section contains no coding steps, parameter values or module-version identification. Obtain the procedure for the actual vehicle and kit before enabling the function.

Functions

  1. With the vehicle locked, carry the vehicle key and touch the trunk switch to open the trunk. This does not mean touching the switch with the key itself or operating without a key present.
  2. On a door fitted with a sensor handle, touch the sensing area to operate the function without pressing the key's buttons.

Troubleshooting described in the source

  1. Engine does not start after installation: If the KG module was replaced, the source calls for comparison with the original module. Normal operation with the original module points to the replacement KG module; if the fault remains, inspect the installation. If the module was not replaced, inspect the installation. The source does not provide diagnostic codes or a module replacement specification.
  2. Keyless entry does not work: Check operation, coding, installation and product faults. Check whether a second key was left inside the vehicle and whether the operating key is being carried. For a replaced KG module, test whether the trunk opens from its switch while the vehicle is locked and the key is carried. If not, check coding and the replacement module. Check that the sensor handles are fitted, that wiring has no short/open circuits and that the handle and antenna connections correspond to the correct KG diagram. The source suggests comparison between components to identify a faulty part.
  3. The key has to be unusually close to an antenna: Check coding and whether the antenna is in contact with metal.

The source does not supply the vehicle isolation procedure, connector face identification, terminal specifications or reassembly torque values. These details remain necessary for a complete installation procedure.
