Vehicle and kit scope
The source guide covers 2023–2024 Mercedes-Benz GLC254 vehicles with factory ambient lighting that lack illuminated rear air vents. The product photograph is labeled 2023; verify the kit against the actual vehicle configuration before installation.
The source describes an upgrade without routine programming for this configuration. It does not provide complete electrical isolation instructions, connector cavity assignments or module specifications. Confirm these for the exact kit before wiring.
1. Product and numbered parts
The illustrated parts are 01 the two rear air vents and 02 the rear air-vent lighting harness. A separate driver module required for a rear-only installation is described in the source text but is not identified as a numbered product in this photograph.
2. Harness routing and two installation cases
- Compatible illuminated front air vents already installed: the source routes the rear lighting harness concealed along the side and joins it to the front air-vent lighting harness. Confirm the front kit's compatibility and matching connector arrangement.
- Rear air vents installed alone: the source requires a separate driver module. Confirm the module and adapter for this kit rather than assuming an existing factory footwell light can directly drive the new vents.
3. Illustrated installation sequence
The first wiring photograph depicts an earlier connection to the right-front footwell-light connector. Its original caption says the later version uses mating adapter connectors. Confirm which harness version is supplied; the photograph is not a complete pinout and does not establish a universal wire-color connection scheme.
The mechanical photographs then show:
- Open the illustrated storage compartment to access the rear vent housing. The source calls it a glove box, although the photograph shows the center-armrest storage area; confirm the correct part and release direction before removal.
- Release the rear vent housing horizontally toward the rear at the marked positions. Preserve the retaining clips shown on its reverse side.
- Remove the four T20 retaining screws illustrated in the vent housing.
- Remove the rear vents and their chrome trim rings. Release the marked ring clips and fit the replacement rings as illustrated.
- Fit the illuminated rear vents, refit the retaining screws and check the side locating pins. The source does not specify tightening torque or clip replacement criteria.
- Complete the confirmed lighting-harness branch above, route the harness without trapping it and check that both vents' louvers close freely before refitting the housing.
4. Lighting functions
The source describes 64 single colors, 10 multicolor themes and dynamic multicolor operation, in which the zoned light sources alternate colors within the selected theme. The effect-menu example shows Exit warning and Dynamic multicolor. Check the actual factory system's menus and the kit's supported functions; these photographs do not prove compatibility with other vehicle configurations.

6. Troubleshooting
- One vent has a different color: inspect for a loose light-head connection. The source suggests reconnection and comparison of components; confirm compatibility before substitution.
- Rear and front vents have different colors: inspect the main lighting-harness connection for loose or displaced terminals and check the confirmed module/harness branch.
- Neither rear vent illuminates: inspect for pinched or damaged wiring and check module/adapter seating. The source provides no electrical test values; use the diagnostic procedure for the exact kit before replacing parts.
- The louvers will not close: check for wiring obstruction and incorrect vent assembly. Correct the obstruction and replace a damaged rear vent assembly only after confirming the fault.
- If the fault remains, contact CKCP support with the vehicle equipment, front/rear kit details, module label and the affected step.
