The source describes upgrading the front turbine-style air vents on the 2016–2023 Mercedes-Benz E-Class 213. It specifies a factory LIN-protocol connection, color synchronization with factory ambient lighting, and compatibility with systems identified as 807, 808, 809 and 801.
Fitment HOLD: The product image says 2016–2022, while the source body says 2016–2023. The source does not resolve that difference or identify the exact factory equipment behind the four system identifiers. Confirm the vehicle, factory ambient-light configuration and supplied module version before installation. China-built and imported E-Class module arrangements differ, as explained below.
1. Front-vent kit
Source image 001 · English version
The source parts list contains:
- Two large illuminated side vents.
- Four small illuminated center vents.
- One light-group wiring harness.
- One control module.
- One control-module adapter harness.
The product image labels the front vents, module power harness and module, and describes a 64-color product. These source claims do not establish compatibility with a vehicle that lacks the required original ambient-light system. The optional rear vents shown in the next wiring layout are not part of the six front vents listed here; a complete rear-vent installation procedure is not supplied in this guide.
2. Dashboard access and source wiring layout
Source image 002 · English version
Read this long image from top to bottom:
- The wiring layout shows the two side vents and four center vents connected to the kit module; the pictured rear vents are explicitly marked optional. It is a routing overview, not a numbered connector or pinout diagram.
- Remove the top instrument/dashboard trim cover shown by the trim tool.
- Remove the three T20 screws circled in the source photograph.
- Use a flat-blade screwdriver to lift the pictured locating pin.
- The source describes drawing the display assembly horizontally rearward and lifting it out, following the pictured arrows. The current English caption retains the rearward direction but omits the lifting wording.
- Disconnect the display assembly's connectors as shown.
- Remove the left and right triangular dashboard end covers. Remove the left dashboard trim first, then the right trim; the source says these two trim sections have no screws.
HOLD — isolation and trim restoration: The source does not provide the vehicle-specific electrical isolation/wait/restoration procedure, all connector-release details, locating-pin restoration or screw-tightening specifications. The illustrated screw and removal information does not supply those missing requirements.
3. Vent replacement, knob mechanism and module connection
Source image 003 · English version
Read the photographs in order:
- The source shows pulling out the two side vents. It does not provide a quantified pulling force or a complete retention-release procedure.
- Remove the front center-vent retaining screws at the circled positions.
- Use a flat-blade screwdriver to release the pictured knob bracket.
- Remove the knob-bracket linkage and separate it as illustrated.
- When fitting the replacement vent arrangement, make sure the knob bracket clips securely into place at the circled location.
- Refit the retaining screws. Check that the completed knob mechanism is not compressed or binding.
- The following close-up shows black and white connectors. Its caption calls for cutting off their locating features. The photograph does not clearly mark the exact features to alter or give the permitted cut dimensions.
- The final photograph identifies the pictured module adapter connection at the front-right footwell light. This connection belongs to the source's China-built module arrangement; it must not be applied automatically to the imported arrangement shown in Figure 4.
HOLD — connector modification: Confirm the exact black/white connector versions, mating orientation and the specific molded locating features before any cutting. “Locating features” must not be mistaken for electrical terminals. This guide does not establish what can be removed while preserving correct keying, insulation and locking.
HOLD — pins, power and ports: No numbered pinout, connector viewing direction, supply voltage/current/protection specification or complete LIN/power/ground assignment is provided. The module's individual vent-harness port assignments are also not fully defined. Do not infer them from connector colors or wire colors. Obtain the exact kit connection specification before completing the wiring.
HOLD — reassembly: The source shows bracket engagement, retaining screws and a no-binding check, but does not provide all fastener torques, vent/duct sealing checks, final module mounting or harness retention/clearance requirements. All original vehicle components and connections must be restored before the source's lighting checks, as stated below.
4. Source troubleshooting
- Vents have not illuminated during incomplete assembly. The source says all original vehicle components must be reinstalled and all wiring connections completed before the illuminated vents can light up. A partially dismantled vehicle is not the source's completed test condition.
- Vents remain off after installation. The source suggests locking the vehicle, allowing it to sleep for 5 minutes, then adjusting color or brightness in the factory ambient-light menu. It does not establish the exact prerequisites for vehicle sleep or guarantee this resolves every fault.
- Vents and some factory ambient lights are off. For the footwell-light arrangement, check that the adapter connection between the module and the footwell light is fully seated rather than loosely connected. This does not identify the connection required by every module variant.
- Vents work, but some factory ambient-light positions are off. The source describes disconnecting the illuminated-vent module, using Mercedes-Benz Xentry for addressing/matching learning of the ambient-light module, and then reconnecting the vent module. HOLD: the exact Xentry routine, target module identification, software requirements, power conditions and reconnect sequence are not supplied. This is a conditional source remedy, not a general instruction to perform coding on every installation.
- An individual vent is dim. Check whether its light head has come loose and whether its light tube is broken, as stated in the source. Replacement or repair specifications are not provided.
- Check the module version. The source distinguishes modules for China-built E-Class vehicles from those for E-Class vehicles imported into China. Its archived text says the default supplied module was the China-built version. That statement does not confirm which module is in the current kit; verify the actual vehicle and supplied module.

The source comparison image identifies two arrangements:
- Upper arrangement — imported E-Class: the source lists E Coupe, E AMG and standard-wheelbase examples and specifies connection through the front-right door control module.
- Lower arrangement — China-built E-Class: it specifies connection through the front-right footwell light.
The image gives no complete chassis/VIN applicability table or part-number cross-reference for those groups. In particular, its Coupe/AMG examples do not establish that all such vehicles share the W213 fitment stated in the title. The imported arrangement's door-module connector, pinout and access procedure are not shown in the installation sequence. The photographed module cases also have small physical port labels that are not a complete verified connection guide.
Module-selection HOLD: Confirm the exact module part/version, vehicle build/configuration, connection point and harness. Do not substitute the footwell-light adapter for the door-control-module arrangement, or the reverse.
Local review status: HOLD. The year-range conflict, connector modification, exact electrical/port definitions, module applicability, Xentry details and complete installation/restoration checks remain unresolved. This source has no video or attachment links, and none has been added.
