Internal review draft — installation details and video version alignment remain pending.
Vehicle and lighting configuration
The Chinese source identifies the 2013–2019 Mercedes-Benz GLA156 and describes a replacement installation using adapter wiring. This is the source's stated range; the exact model year, steering side, door module and lighting configuration must be checked against the supplied kit before installation.
The product image describes synchronization with retrofitted 12-color or 64-color ambient lighting. The source introduction also mentions the vehicle's ambient-light function. These statements do not establish compatibility with every factory lighting system, or confirm whether coding or an additional lighting controller is required. Confirm the specific lighting version and harness with the supplier.
Product image and parts
- Rotating tweeter assemblies: the image shows a pair of replacement tweeters in triangular door trim housings.
- Drive modules and adapter harness: the image shows two modules and an adapter harness. Confirm the supplied module and harness identifiers; the generic model names printed on the module are not a vehicle-specific fitment confirmation.
Demonstrated installation workflow
The following is a reading aid for the archived Chinese demonstration, not a complete approved wiring procedure. The timestamps refer to the article-linked 062 Chinese source video, sampled independently from the current English video. The existing English video uses a separate archived edit with different timing; the versions still require full comparison.
- Expose the door-panel fasteners (sample at 00:45). The demonstration removes the door-pull trim and exposes fasteners beneath it. The current English subtitle gives conflicting screw counts; confirm every fastener and the required tool before releasing the panel. No tightening torque is supplied.
- Release the door panel and handle cable (samples at 01:30 and 02:00). The demonstration releases a remaining clip and then frees the interior door-handle cable from its retainer and hook. Support the panel while identifying its electrical connectors. The correct isolation procedure and clip-release method have not been supplied.
- Remove the original tweeter housing and transfer its retainer (samples at 02:20, 02:30 and 02:55). The original triangular tweeter trim is replaced with the 4D assembly. The footage shows an orange/yellow retainer being transferred and the replacement housing being aligned with the door opening. Confirm the retainer position and engagement before refitting.
- Connect the tweeter adapter (sample at 02:40). The demonstration joins the adapter to the original tweeter wiring using the shown mating connectors. No pinout or polarity diagram is provided; connector color alone is insufficient to identify a compatible harness.
- Identify the door-module connection and the inline connector separately (samples at 03:15 and 03:30). The footage refers to the blue door-module connection as No. 5, and separately identifies a white 5P inline connector in the adapter harness. No. 5 is a connection label in the demonstration; it must not be interpreted as a five-pin specification. Confirm the exact module socket, mating connector and wiring diagram before connection.
- Protect the wiring and secure the drive module (samples at 03:45 and 04:00). The footage shows cloth tape applied to wiring and adhesive tape applied to the module. The approved module location, cable routing, strain relief and clearance from the window mechanism and moisture paths are not specified.
- Reconnect the panel and refit it (samples at 04:15, 04:35, 05:10 and 05:40). The demonstration reconnects the door-panel plugs and handle cable, guides the door-lock indicator rod through its opening, and reseats the panel. Confirm that every latch and retainer is engaged and that no wire or cable is trapped; the complete refitting specification remains pending.
- Check the door and tweeter functions (samples from 05:55 onward). The demonstration discusses the door handle, window, tweeter movement and lighting. Record checks for the actual vehicle and both installed assemblies. The sampled frames do not constitute a full operational acceptance test.
Demonstrated lighting controls
The demonstration vehicle has additional ambient-light components visible in the cabin. Its Chinese screen shows ambient-light brightness and color controls. The video text describes five brightness levels, an off setting at 0 and a 12-color configuration; the product image separately mentions a 64-color retrofit variant. These are configuration-specific demonstrations, not confirmation of the controls or color count on every GLA156.
The video text also describes extension on vehicle start and return on shutdown. The exact ignition state, delay, lock/sleep behavior and obstruction protection still require confirmation and a full motion test.
The existing media link is retained. Its subtitle and voice script still contain repeated phrases, stray hardware-label text and ambiguous instructions, and the original Chinese labels remain visible. Use this internal draft with the recorded source evidence until the video and technical details are reviewed.
Details required before installation release
- Exact vehicle year, steering side, door-module version, kit identifiers and factory/retrofitted lighting configuration.
- Confirmed connector diagram, pin assignment, electrical isolation procedure and any coding requirements.
- Complete fastener and clip locations, tightening specifications, approved module mounting position and wiring clearances.
- Verified start/shutdown rotation behavior, brightness/color controls, speaker operation and door functions for both sides.
- An approved troubleshooting procedure and complete English video picture/audio review.
