Application and installation video

The archived Chinese guide identifies the first-generation illuminated midrange speaker cover for 2016–2023 Mercedes-Benz E-Class 213 vehicles with factory ambient lighting. It describes synchronisation with the factory ambient-light functions. These are the source's application and function claims; the archive does not establish every body style, door trim, steering configuration or ambient-light equipment combination. Confirm the vehicle and supplied first-generation kit before using the connection sequence below.

The work shown concerns the illuminated cover and its lighting lead at the door-panel trim. The speaker behind the cover remains a separate component. This guide does not establish a speaker replacement or an audio upgrade.

English installation video

The video is approximately 7 minutes 12 seconds. Its three Chinese navigation labels mean “Remove the door panel,” “Install the front-door cover” and “Install the rear-door cover.” The current English version still has translation defects, including “zipper” for the door-release cable, “200 knife” for a clip-release tool, and “original color No. 6 plug” for a vehicle connector. The numbered descriptions below clarify those terms; they do not correct the video's existing narration or subtitles.

Installation sequence shown in the source video

These time ranges provide navigation through this exact first-generation video. They describe the demonstration rather than a complete vehicle-specific workshop procedure. Fastener specifications, an approved electrical isolation procedure and a connector diagram are not supplied in the archive.

  1. 00:00–00:51 — Front-door panel access. The installer releases the inner trim and panel attachments, lifts the panel and disconnects the door-release cable and electrical connectors. Support the panel while identifying its connections. The English word “zipper” refers to the door-release cable in this scene. The front and rear panels are demonstrated separately; do not transfer a screw count from one to the other.

  2. 00:51–01:40 — Rear-door panel access. The source shows fasteners around the inner handle, release of the panel clips, and removal of the cable and connector connections. The illustrated locations apply to the demonstrated panel. The exact clip locations and reassembly specifications for other trims remain unconfirmed.

  3. 01:41–02:19 — Release the front-door decorative trim. With the panel supported on its reverse side, the installer releases the trim's retaining points and disconnects the original lighting connection. The trim, original lamp connection and speaker behind the grille are distinct parts. The video shows tools acting on the retaining points; it does not identify an approved tool specification or force limit.

  4. 02:19–02:40 — Remove the original cover. The demonstration removes existing adhesive around the cover's retaining points, then releases the cover. This is a cover-removal operation. It is not evidence that a structural clip should be cut off. A validated method for preserving the trim and its retainers is still required.

  5. 02:40–03:35 — Select and orient the replacement cover. The installer compares the handed covers, uses the logo/mark to explain the forward-facing orientation, aligns the small notch, and seats the lighting assembly and cover. The source describes adhesive at four retaining points. It does not identify the adhesive, quantity, curing time or approved bonding surfaces. Confirm the handed part and its orientation against the actual door rather than interpreting screen-left as vehicle-left.

  6. 03:42–04:04 — Refit the front trim and route its lead. The source routes the new cover's lighting lead through the opening at the original lamp connection, then returns the trim clips to position. The lead exit is shown locally. The archive does not provide a complete clearance check against every clip, fastener and moving door component.

  7. 04:05–04:44 — Front-cover adapter connections. The demonstrated adapter connects to the cover's lead and to a vehicle connector described in the source as “No. 6.” This is a connector identifier in this demonstration, not an instruction to connect to pin 6. The next part discusses a vehicle that already has an added rotating tweeter. That is a conditional arrangement shown on the example vehicle; it does not establish that the tweeter is required or that its branch can be used with every kit. The exact connector map and arrangement for a vehicle without that retrofit remain to be confirmed.

  8. 04:44–06:09 — Rear-cover installation. On the back of the rear panel, the installer disconnects the original lamp connection, releases the trim retainers, removes old adhesive and the cover, and aligns the replacement's notch and retaining points. The lighting lead is brought through the original lamp opening before the trim is seated. The video's phrase “200 knife” is not a usable tool name. The approved release tool, adhesive and retention method are not specified.

  9. 06:09–06:45 — Rear adapter and panel connections. The source connects the rear cover's lead to its adapter and refers to vehicle connections as “No. 6” and the smaller “No. 5.” These identify connectors in the demonstrated arrangement. They do not establish terminal numbers, wire functions, supply voltage or a universal connection diagram. Identify the actual connectors and kit wiring before applying this arrangement.

  10. 06:45–07:07 — Reconnection and reassembly. The source reconnects the speaker and other panel connections, returns the panel and calls for a function check. It does not supply a recorded test result for every door function, ambient-light mode or vehicle fault condition. Panel seating, cable operation, wire clearance, original functions and cover-light synchronisation still require a documented acceptance check.

Troubleshooting from the archived guide

The three source branches distinguish whether the original door ambient lighting also fails. They provide fault-isolation leads; a single substitution result is not a complete diagnosis.

  1. Both the illuminated cover and original door ambient lighting are off. The source calls for locking the vehicle and allowing it to sleep for 10 minutes. It then describes removing the added adapter and restoring the original connection to compare operation. If the original lighting returns, investigate the adapter and its connections. If it remains off, investigate the original signal path and other added adapter connections. The archive does not define the complete electrical isolation or diagnostic procedure for this comparison.

  2. The original door ambient lighting works, but the cover does not. Check for a disconnected plug, bent or deformed terminals, and differences in terminal positions against a confirmed matching connector. The source proposes comparison with a known-good compatible adapter. A change in operation can help isolate the adapter or cover light source; it does not prove that the light source is faulty when every other electrical cause remains untested. The guide supplies no terminal diagram and does not authorise repinning or a guessed power connection.

  3. Multicolour operation differs between lights, while single-colour operation appears normal. The source directs attention to a trapped wire near the cover's light source or a light-source fault. Record which lights and modes differ and inspect the relevant lead and assembly. The archive does not establish a coding setting, reset sequence or confirmed repair for this symptom.

Demonstration and remaining checks

The separate effect-video link in the original archive lacks an article identifier. No correctly bound effect video can be established from that link. The sampled ending of the installation video shows reconnection, panel reassembly and a brand end card; those frames do not demonstrate all ambient-light modes or confirm synchronisation.

This local revision remains HOLD for upload preparation. Outstanding work includes repair and complete review of the English video, continuous playback with audio checking, verified first-generation fitment, connector and isolation documentation, approved cover retention and adhesive details, routing and panel-clearance checks, and recorded electrical and functional acceptance. Existing publication records are not a new technical approval.
