This guide follows the CKCP demonstration for the 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class W214. The source identifies the product as an illuminated speaker cover with 64-color inner and outer lighting. The illustrated LIN module is labelled for vehicles with factory ambient lighting. Confirm the vehicle's original equipment and the supplied kit revision before using this procedure for another vehicle or model year.

Product and kit identification

Illuminated speaker covers, extension leads, LIN modules, mounting screws and adapter harnesses

The numbered groups in the source kit photograph are:

  1. Illuminated speaker covers.
  2. Cover extension leads.
  3. Ambient-light LIN control modules.
  4. Mounting screws.
  5. Cover adapter harnesses.

The photographed modules carry the identifiers 206 / 254 / 214 / 223, LIN control module (YC) and CKCP V1.2, 2024/06/15, together with the factory-ambient-lighting condition. These are identifiers visible on the supplied parts; they do not establish that this W214 procedure applies to every vehicle in those model families.

Installation sequence shown in the source

The demonstration lists harness tape, a T30 Torx tool, a flat-head screwdriver and a plastic trim tool. The sequence below describes the illustrated door and kit. The video does not supply a complete vehicle service procedure, screw torque values or an electrical terminal-assignment diagram.

  1. Remove the door-panel screws — approximately 00:13–00:25. The source uses the T30 tool at two screw positions and then shows one additional screw. Use the illustrated positions as reference for this door; do not assume the same screw arrangement on another trim version.

  2. Release and separate the door panel — approximately 00:25–00:46. The demonstrator uses the plastic trim tool, pulls the panel outward and lowers one side slightly to release it. The rear connectors are disconnected, and the door-handle release attachment is lifted out. Identify these attachments on the actual panel before separating it; the source does not instruct removal of every vehicle connector.

  3. Replace the speaker cover — approximately 00:53–01:06. The source removes the original cover's attachment points, seats the replacement cover and fastens it using the supplied screws at the illustrated original hole positions. The source calls the removed attachment points “weld points”; this is not an instruction to weld the replacement cover. The exact approved removal method and fastening specification need confirmation for the panel and kit in hand.

  4. Connect the cover extension lead — approximately 01:06–01:32. Identify the module, the black adapter harness with two black connectors and a 5P connector, and the branched extension lead. The demonstrator connects one extension branch to the cover's light-strip lead. A spare branch is left unused and wrapped with tape. The same arrangement is demonstrated for the other cover lead. The unused branch is not an instruction to add another electrical connection.

  5. Connect the LIN module — approximately 01:32–02:03. The demonstration opens the module housing to show its two connector positions. The source labels them 4P and 5P: the 4P connection is used for the lead to the illuminated cover, and the 5P connection is used for the black adapter harness. Any unused branch shown in this arrangement is wrapped, and the housing is refitted. These names identify the illustrated connections; they do not provide a cavity-by-cavity pinout, wire-color assignment or permission to repin another harness.

  6. Insert the adapter at the illustrated factory lamp — approximately 02:07–02:36. The demonstrator identifies a lamp connection on the rear of this door panel, disconnects its original plug, inserts the adapter harness and reconnects the original lamp through the adapter. The location is shown again during the sequence. Match that exact lamp connection and the supplied harness; this is not a general instruction to tap any nearby lamp or power wire.

  7. Secure the wiring and module, then restore the panel connections — approximately 02:36–02:44. The source instructs securing the wiring and module, restoring the disconnected connections and refitting the panel. It does not specify a final mounting location, harness-clearance dimensions, electrical isolation procedure or functional acceptance test. Those details must be confirmed before installation is treated as complete.

Installation video and reading notes

English installation video

The bound demonstration is approximately 2 minutes 44 seconds long. Its source archive identifies it as 115_ddbf3c6574b954c8, with original video ID wxv_3761964678893600769.

The present English video contains opening subtitles that do not describe the model, tools or screw-removal actions. It also renders the source connector terms 4P and 5P as “4B” and “5B” in parts of the English text. Use the source-grounded descriptions above to distinguish these terms; the video subtitles and narration still require correction. A separate final lighting-effect demonstration is not supplied in the original article's effect section.

Troubleshooting from the original article

  1. Both the illuminated cover and the factory door ambient light are off. The original guide calls for locking the vehicle and allowing a 10-minute sleep period, then removing the adapter and checking the restored factory wiring. If normal operation returns, investigate the adapter connection or harness. If it does not, investigate the original ambient-light signal and other added adapter connections. The 10-minute instruction is a troubleshooting step in this source; it does not establish that the vehicle is electrically isolated or prove a component diagnosis by itself.

  2. The factory door ambient light works, but the cover does not illuminate. Check for a disconnected plug or bent/deformed terminals. The source suggests comparison with a known-good compatible adapter. If operation returns, investigate the original adapter; if the fault remains, investigate the cover's light head and compare the terminal positions with the correct matching harness. This comparison is not a pinout or authorization to move terminals.

  3. Colors differ in multicolor mode, while single-color mode is normal. The source asks for checking whether the cover's light head presses on a wire, or whether the light head itself has a fault. The supplied material does not document a completed repair or a verified result for this symptom.
