Scope and kit identification

This guide follows the archived CLA117 rear vent assembly installation video. The original article also names A-Class, B-Class, CLA and GLA as a product family. That broader heading does not establish that one assembly, air duct or lighting harness fits all four vehicles. The source product image and opening video card describe a 2013–2019 CLA / W117 version; confirm the vehicle, console layout and supplied kit revision before using this sequence.

The opening video card describes a kit with 12 colors controlled through the vehicle screen and 64 colors through an app. These are descriptions of the demonstrated version. The archive does not provide the app identity, pairing instructions, supported phone systems or compatibility for other factory lighting configurations.

Product image and components

CLA117 rear vent assembly, sealing material, rear air duct and lighting harness

The archived still image identifies four component groups:

  1. Illuminated rear air vent assembly, with two round vents in the rear console panel.
  2. Air-blocking foam / sealing material, pictured as two strips.
  3. Rear air duct, with a three-way shape that supplies the rear vents.
  4. Rear vent lighting harness. This carries the lighting connection; it is not an illuminated air duct.

The opening video card numbers the duct as 02 and the sealing material as 03, while the still image reverses those two callouts. Identify these parts by their shape and name rather than transferring callout numbers between the two illustrations. The photograph is a component reference, not a verified packing list or quantity check for every kit.

Installation sequence shown in the video

The time ranges below are approximate navigation points in the existing English video. They describe the recorded sequence. The archive does not include a vehicle service procedure, cutting template, connector pinout or fastener torque specifications.

  1. Access the upper center-console panel — 00:14–00:34. The demonstrator opens the armrest compartment, uses a trim tool from inside the compartment to lift the console panel, disconnects the panel connectors and moves the panel back to remove it. Match the actual panel and connector releases to the vehicle service instructions; the recording does not define every release point.

  2. Remove the console fasteners and rear panel — 00:34–01:34. The narration identifies a fastener removed with a 10 mm socket and two T20 screws in the forward console area. The rear panel is then released from a corner with a trim tool, and its cigarette-lighter / power-socket connector is unplugged. Two further screws behind the rear panel are removed before the remaining console connectors are disconnected. The console housing is lifted and drawn backward. These tool sizes belong to this demonstration; the video does not establish a complete fastener inventory or tightening specification for every vehicle.

  3. Prepare the reserved air-duct connection and fit the supplied duct — 01:34–02:21. Beneath the removed console, the demonstrator locates a reserved ventilation connection, opens it with a rotary tool and fits the supplied three-way duct, positioning one side first and seating the connection upward. The recording does not show a dimensioned cutting boundary, depth limit or a complete clearance check. Obtain the matching kit template and vehicle procedure before making this irreversible opening; do not infer a drill size or cut shape from this guide.

  4. Transfer the original power socket into the new rear panel — 02:23–02:58. The recording shows a retaining tab on the back of the original panel, removal of the original cigarette-lighter / power-socket unit, reconnection of its plug, and fitting the unit into the replacement assembly. Two lower locating slots are aligned before the unit is seated. The video uses a blade-like tool at the release tab; it does not establish an approved release tool or force. Use the applicable socket release procedure rather than treating that demonstration as a tool recommendation.

  5. Seal the demonstrated console duct openings — 03:01–03:19. The demonstrator applies the supplied sealing material over the original console duct openings on both sides. The narration calls this material “cloth”; the product still identifies air-blocking foam. Match the sealing material and the shown locations to the supplied kit instructions. This is not an instruction to block unrelated vehicle outlets or to cover every opening in the console.

  6. Route the rear lighting harness and refit the console — 03:19–03:55. The lighting harness is passed through the console before the housing is refitted, leaving its rear connection accessible. The console's two rear duct interfaces are aligned with the supplied duct, the housing is moved forward to seat them, and the demonstrated adapter connectors are reconnected. The archive does not supply a final fastening or wire-clearance acceptance procedure.

  7. Bring the lighting connection forward — 03:55–04:21. The rear vent lighting lead is routed along the console toward the footwell-light area. The narration describes connection with the front air-vent lighting harness using one male and one female plug: one end goes to the module, and the other adapts to the front vent harness. This describes the demonstrated harness arrangement. It does not identify the module revision, connector housing numbers, terminal cavities, polarity, voltage or circuit protection. Use only the matched kit wiring document; no wire-color or pin assignment is supplied here.

Demonstration and troubleshooting

The archived page contains no separate completed-effect demonstration or written fault procedure. The installation video therefore cannot serve as a recorded test of airflow, socket operation, color selection, app pairing or lighting synchronization on the reader's vehicle.

If a vent does not receive air, the relevant recorded stages are the supplied duct connection, the sealing material placement and the two interfaces aligned during console refitting. If the lighting does not work, the relevant recorded stage is the matched rear-to-front lighting adapter connection. These are locations shown in the recording, not a verified fault diagnosis. Have the applicable kit and vehicle checks completed before changing a connection or repeating the duct modification. The archive provides no electrical test values or repair pinout.

English installation video

The existing local English video is provided below. Its embedded English subtitles and narration are an internal translation; some original Chinese titles, component labels and chapter bars remain visible. Complete sound, timing and technical validation is still required.
