Product and vehicle scope

This reference concerns the accessory lighting fitted to the rear faces of the front-seat backrests in the demonstrated vehicle. The original article names the Mercedes-Benz GLE167 and GLS167. Its archive category places the GLE under model years from 2020 onward; this is a source classification, not confirmation that every GLE or GLS year, seat design, equipment package or left-/right-hand-drive configuration accepts the same kit.

The demonstration shows curved clear light guides, lamp units with leads, extension/adapter cables and a small control module. It is not a verified complete packing list. Confirm the vehicle, seat trim and exact kit revision before using the demonstration as an installation reference.

English video

The locally bound video runs approximately 2 minutes 35 seconds. The guide below follows that specific source recording. The present English video is still a translation draft: it retains Chinese captions and has wording and timing errors. Read the navigation notes alongside the pictures; the English narration is not a verified wiring instruction.

Step-by-step video navigation

  1. 00:12–00:17 — Check the light-guide position. The installer holds a curved light guide against the upper area of the seatback rear panel to check its position. The source caption means “align/check the position”; the current English “No position” is incorrect. The recording does not establish universal left/right interchangeability or provide an orientation diagram for every kit.

  2. 00:17–00:34 — Connect the lamp units to the guides. A small connector is attached to a lamp unit and the unit is inserted into the end of the clear guide. The other side is then addressed. The connector cavities, polarity and pin assignment are not identified clearly enough to reproduce electrically from the recording alone.

  3. 00:34–00:59 — Fit the guide and route its lead behind the trim. The installer works the guide/lead into the demonstrated seatback-panel arrangement and routes the lead through the side gap toward the underside of the seat. “Tuck the backrest in” in the English draft should not be read as an instruction to push the entire seatback into a gap. This portion does not give a complete procedure for removing the rear panel, releasing its clips or refitting all fasteners. Obtain the correct seat and kit instructions before dismantling the trim.

  4. 00:59–01:10 — Identify the supplied adapter leads. The presenter lays out two longer adapter leads and one shorter lead. The spoken description distinguishes leads with three connector ends from a lead with two connector ends; these counts describe branches/ends, not connector pin counts. Use the actual supplied lead labels and wiring documentation to identify each branch.

  5. 01:10–01:36 — Route the passenger-side seatback branch. In the demonstrated arrangement, a single connector end is joined to the lead coming down from the seatback. The spare end is wrapped, and the lead is taken beneath the seat toward the front passenger footwell. The recording does not specify the approved insulation material, attachment points or clearance from seat rails, moving mechanisms and restraint-system wiring. Those details must be resolved for the exact installation.

  6. 01:36–01:59 — Prepare the other seat and cross-console extension. The other seat branch is connected in the shown arrangement, its spare connector is wrapped, and an extension is routed across the center-console area toward the module side. Around 01:48 the source is still showing the spare end being wrapped; around 01:59 its caption refers to crossing the center console. The current English footer advances to later connections at these points. Follow the source action, not the premature English footer, and verify the complete protected route before securing the leads.

  7. 01:59–02:20 — Bring the branches to the control module. The installer gathers the single-/double-ended adapter arrangement and connects the shown leads near the small red-board module. Hands obscure parts of these connections. The recording supplies neither a connector-face diagram nor an identified module model, power source, protection specification or documented input/output mapping. Do not infer the wiring from connector color or the repeated “This double end” English sentence.

  8. 02:20–02:28 — Note the conditional front-vent lighting connection. The source describes a different connection option when front illuminated air vents have already been added. The visible Chinese caption refers to the front air vents, not a “full air vent set.” This is a conditional arrangement in the demonstrated system; it does not authorize connecting any seatback kit to any vent-lighting loom. Confirm the matching module, adapter and circuit before making this connection. The final seconds show branding, not a completed function test.

Results and troubleshooting

The archived article contains empty product-image, effect-display and troubleshooting sections. It includes no separate images, finished-result photographs or source-backed fault table. The video does not establish a complete acceptance test for lighting, color/brightness control, seat movement, trim refit or retention of original vehicle functions.

Before the installation can be treated as ready, obtain the exact fitment and kit wiring instructions, the seat-panel removal/refit procedure and a verified safe cable route. Record the finished lighting/control checks and full seat travel after refitting. Any programming or feature-activation requirement, module setting and fault remedy must come from the applicable kit/vehicle documentation; no coding values, pinout, torque or electrical supply specification are supplied here.

Source reference

The archived source is the CKCP GLE167/GLS167 seatback-lighting installation article. Its saved external-link record and official-video mapping identify this recording specifically. This local review adds readable navigation and corrects source-supported wording. It does not certify the current video translation, electrical installation or all vehicle configurations, and it does not change the tutorial's recorded publication history.
