Choose a time manually

This reference follows the archived CKCP source archive kit image, its wiring PDF and its own linked installation video. The source category is E214 from the 2024 model year; the video introduces an E300L demonstration vehicle. These source descriptions do not establish compatibility with every E-Class trim, market or steering configuration. Match the vehicle, factory lighting, kit and module revision before installation.

1. Product image and kit identification

Dashboard ambient-light kit and original numbered component positions

The source describes multicolor ambient lighting extending across the dashboard. Read the original product-image numbers as five component groups:

  1. Dashboard light strip.
  2. Ambient-light control module.
  3. Module extension cable.
  4. Light-strip extension cable.
  5. Module power cable.

The current English image contains a mistranslated heading and an expanded legend that does not preserve these five component groups. Its “For all models” heading is a generic source-image claim, not a verified fitment statement for this E214 installation. Module-label model names are not evidence that the entire kit fits those vehicles.

2. Wiring PDF and its numbered callouts

Dashboard surround light strip and LIN-to-CAN module wiring diagram — original PDF

The retained PDF is the original Chinese document. Its eleven diagram numbers are a separate numbering system from the five product-image component groups above:

  1. Dashboard surround light strip: installed above the center dashboard/instrument area.
  2. Light-strip connecting lead: joins the strip to the extension harness.
  3. Four-pin, four-wire connector: strip-to-extension connection.
  4. Black four-pin, four-wire extension harness: carries the strip signal and power.
  5. Four-pin, four-wire connector: reserved and left unused in this diagram.
  6. Four-pin, four-wire connector: extension-to-main-controller connection, labelled SPI4.
  7. Ambient-light main control box: handles the lighting signal output.
  8. Protocol box: function expansion or signal conversion. The document name identifies a LIN-to-CAN module; this is not a detailed signal pinout.
  9. One-to-two connecting harness: connection between the power harness and the control boxes.
  10. Power lead: the red wire is labelled for constant positive supply from the vehicle fuse supply.
  11. Adapter connectors: connect to the vehicle's original front footwell-light connectors.

The PDF asks for fully seated connectors, professional installation and a complete functional test afterward. It does not identify a fuse position or rating, individual pin functions, operating voltage, circuit protection or the vehicle power-isolation procedure. Obtain the exact vehicle/kit electrical instructions before making the constant-power connection.

3. Installation sequence shown in the source video

The following sequence describes the demonstrated kit. Times are navigation references in the approximately 2:32 source video. They do not replace the missing electrical and mechanical specifications.

  1. 0:00–0:18 — Identify the dashboard strip and demonstration vehicle. The source introduces the E300L/E214 installation. The illuminated trim visible during the demonstration is not a completed functional acceptance test.
  2. 0:18–0:49 — Position the strip along the dashboard seam. Locate the strip's supplied lead on the left and work the strip along the demonstrated seam across the dashboard. The source says excess length can be trimmed and that an appropriate allowance should remain. Approved cutting positions, allowance, sealing and end treatment are not specified; confirm those details for the exact strip before cutting.
  3. 0:49–1:13 — Connect and route the extension harness. The demonstrator identifies an extension harness with three connectors, mates the single-end connector to the strip lead, and routes the harness near the A-pillar and beneath the footwell area toward the passenger footwell. The source does not provide a complete airbag-clearance, retention or pinch-protection route; obtain the vehicle-specific route rather than copying an unspecified concealed path.
  4. 1:13–1:42 — Identify the two modules and footwell adapter. Unfold the supplied harness; “open this wire” in the English video should not be read as an instruction to cut or strip a wire. The blue adapter is demonstrated at the original front-right footwell-light connection: unplug the original connector and mate the corresponding adapter connections. Front-right/passenger-side describes this demonstration and is not a right-hand-drive conversion rule. The source then shows the footwell light illuminated.
  5. 1:42–1:48 — Identify the red constant-power lead. The source points to a fuse-box supply and says the red lead requires constant power. No specific fuse slot, fuse value or individual terminal is proven here. The wiring instructions listed above must be resolved before connection.
  6. 1:48–2:12 — Connect the two module branches. The source shows the adapter harness producing two module connections. One is connected to the main lighting module; the second box is opened for its demonstrated connector connection. The indicated unused connector is left unconnected and the box is closed. This visual description does not establish an interchangeable module revision, pin assignment or alternative socket choice.
  7. 2:17–2:32 — Identify the strip's control-box port. The source PDF callout 6 and the module label visible at 2:28 identify SPI4 for the active flexible light strip. The current English subtitles and narration script incorrectly spell it “SIP4.” The demonstrator also says that all four other indicated ports are to remain unconnected for this demonstrated strip connection; “do not connect all four” must not be read as permission to use some of them. Match the exact module face, connector and revision before applying that instruction.

4. Effect display and troubleshooting information

The archived article has headings for effect display and troubleshooting but no written procedure under them. The installation video shows lighting during the work and connector demonstrations; it does not document a complete settings, color-response, sleep-current, fault or restored-trim acceptance test.

The remaining installation information must include exact vehicle/kit compatibility, module revision and port map, constant-power circuit and protection, approved cutting/end treatment, safe harness routing and module retention, and the functional checks after reassembly. No coding values, pin numbers, torque settings or universal fitment are supplied by this reference.

5. Retained installation video

English installation video — current local version

This is the video linked to this article's archived source, not an E213 instrument-frame-light video. The current English clip retains Chinese on-screen text and has terminology and timing issues, including SPI4/SIP4 and the unused-port instruction. Its complete original and English audio and continuous playback have not been reviewed in this pass. Use the source-supported descriptions above while the retained media awaits correction and full review.
